摘要: The invention permits the lining of a passageway or pipeline with a resilient but robust, semi-rigid plastics pipe. The invention enables the lining of pipelines and passageways of long length by extruding the lining tube on site, deflecting the tube so that it is deflected into smaller diametral size, holding the tube in the deflected condition, feeding the deflected and held tube into the passageway to be lined, and releasing the hold on the tube so that it deflects or is deflected back to its original form and lines the pipeline or passageway.

摘要: An arrangement is provided for forming the longitudinal seal or seam of a packaging tube by inward clamping movement of a heated sealing shoe and a backup shoe with equal and diametrically opposite force on opposite sides of the coaxial internal form or filling tube about which the packaging tube is formed or positioned. The pressing engagement of the sealing shoe against the overlapped edges of the film assures a uniform and secure seam and the backup shoe prevents misalignment of the depending filling tube by counteracting the pressing force. The opposite acting shoes are mounted on pivotal arms with 2:1 mechanical advantage gained by the fluid cylinder actuator that interconnects the free ends of the arms. Each pivot lies in a separate plane contiguous with the respective area of shoe engagement with the film on the filling tube to assure radial or straight-in movement; the two planes thus being substantially parallel. The pivotal mounting arms are biased outwardly away from the tube and adjustable stop means is provided to assure equal withdrawal distance of the shoes. The biasing spring is on the backup arm so as to assure that nominal engagement of the sealing shoe precedes the backup shoe and that the engagement is gradual by virtue of the spring force, whereby the sealing shoe has a firm grip or seat on the overlapped edges of the film before sealing pressure is applied.

摘要: A method for continuously forming hollow tubing of foam material comprising a mandrel fixed at one end about which said tubing is formed a web of material by confining the foam material within an annular space of an envelope of flexible laminar material which is allowed to foam and expand and the envelope of confined foamed material then moved longitudinally of said mandrel and thereafter cured while moving along said mandrel. In order to assure cross-sectional symmetry of concentricity of the hollow tubing, means are provided for aligning the mandrel by controlling its flexure to a position which will provide a product having the desired concentricity, and means associated with a region of the mandrel away from the fixed end from detaching variations in alignment from the desired alignment, whereby when a variation in alignment is detected, the means for aligning the mandrel is actuated to compensate for the detected variation.
