    摘要: An introducer sheath includes an inner liner having a passageway extending longitudinally therethrough, a coil positioned over the inner liner, and an outer jacket positioned over the liner and the coil. The outer jacket is bonded to the inner liner between the coil turns. The coil turns have a cross-section comprising opposing end portions, and a center portion disposed between the opposing end portions. The center portion has a thickness not exceeding about one-third of a thickness of the end portions for reducing a bending modulus of the coil, and the end portions have a generally curved outer surface. At least a distal end portion of the outer jacket has a durometer between about 70 and 90 on the Shore D scale.

    摘要: A hose for use in bio-pharmaceutical applications includes an innermost tubular layer made from a fluoropolymer material. The tubular layer has an inner, relatively smooth and pure surface that defines an opening for transfer of various media. A layer of silicone is disposed next to an outer surface of the innermost tubular layer through use of, for example, an extrusion method. The outer surface of the tubular layer may first be modified by various treatments or chemicals to facilitate the adhesion of the silicone layer thereto. The silicone material may be solid or foamed. A reinforcement layer may be disposed adjacent to an outer surface of the silicone layer. The reinforcement layer may be formed of a wire braid having gaps. An outer jacket of silicone may be attached to the reinforcement layer and to the inner silicone layer through the gaps in the reinforcement layer.

    摘要: An apparatus for applying an adhesive coated tape on a core mounted on a mandrel, includes a mounting frame having mounted thereon an adhesive tape supply roller, a rewind roller, an idler roller mounted between the supply and rewind rollers such that the adhesive tape on the idler roller can be sandwiched between the idler roller and mandrel and transferred to the mandrel with the carrier layer being wound on the rewind roller, a motor for rotating the rewind roller, and a knife assembly pivotally mounted thereon adjacent the idler roller for cutting the adhesive layer extending between the supply roller and mandrel after the adhesive layer has been transferred to the mandrel; two link arms pivotally connecting the mounting frame about a pivot shaft secured to a main frame; a piston-cylinder assembly for pivotally moving the mounting frame about the link arms and relative to the mandrel such that the adhesive tape around the idler roller can be transferred to the mandrel; and a cam plate for pivotally moving the knife assembly to cause the adhesive layer which sticks to the knife to disengage from the knife assembly and fall onto the carrier layer.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a method of and composition for bonding a tubular first object to an inwardly located second object by using an adhesive coating. The coating includes water, a glue and a polymer. The coating is preferably applied to the inner surface of the first object and is dried so that the object may be stored for years prior to use. When ready for use, the coating is activated by wetting it with water so that the first tubular object can easily slide along the outer surface of the inwardly located second object to a desired position. The present invention further teaches a handgrip bonded to a golf club using the method described above.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for applying thin film polymer labels to small cylindrical articles such as dry cell batteries without label mismatching is disclosed. A label transport drum is rotatably mounted on a frame. Cut labels are supplied to the surface of the label transport drum as the drum is rotated. An adhesive is applied onto the area adjacent the leading edge of the label while the label is moving with the drum, and a solvent is applied onto an area adjacent the trailing edge of the label. Cylindrical articles are conveyed in tangential spinning engagement with the label transport drum and into rotative engagement with the adhesive on the leading edge of the label so as to transfer the label onto the article as the label is moved into engagement with the rotating article. A pressure plate imparts pressure against selected sides and ends of the article during wrapping to prevent mismatching of the label as the label wraps around the article. A seam is formed at the overlap of leading and trailing edge portions. The pressure plate has an article engaging surface positioned adjacent the surface of the drum. The camber of the plate may be varied relative to the articles conveyed on the surface of the drum, thus varying the pressure imparted against selected areas of the article during labeling to prevent mismatching of the label.
