Abstract: An electrochemical system and method are disclosed for On Site Generation (OSG) of oxidants, such as free available chlorine, mixed oxidants and persulfate. Operation at high current density, using at least a diamond anode, provides for higher current efficiency, extended lifetime operation, and improved cost efficiency. High current density operation, in either a single pass or recycle mode, provides for rapid generation of oxidants, with high current efficiency, which potentially allows for more compact systems. Beneficially, operation in reverse polarity for a short cleaning cycle manages scaling, provides for improved efficiency and electrode lifetime and allows for use of impure feedstocks without requiring water softeners. Systems have application for generation of chlorine or other oxidants, including mixed oxidants providing high disinfection rate per unit of oxidant, e.g. for water treatment to remove microorganisms or for degradation of organics in industrial waste water.

Abstract: A system for cleaning contaminants from a body of water includes a dam that restricts a flow of water in the body of water. The system also includes a generator that generates electric power from the body of water, and one or more electrodes that induce an electrocoagulation current upstream of the dam. A filter press then removes contaminants that are precipitated from the water of the body of water by the electrocoagulation current.

Abstract: The electrolyzed water-generating apparatus 1 includes: a first electrode chamber Da; a first water inlet path 4a connected to the first electrode chamber Da to supply the first electrode chamber Da with raw water from outside; a first water outlet path 7a connected to the first electrode chamber Da, and dispensing out of the first electrode chamber Da electrolyzed hydrogen water generated by electrolysis in the first electrode chamber Da; and a charge amount adjuster 10 connected to the electrolysis tank D to adjust an amount of electrical charge to be provided to the electrolyzed hydrogen water. The charge amount adjuster 10 adjusts, based on a flow rate of the raw water, the amount of the electrical charge per unit quantity of the generated electrolyzed hydrogen water through control of an electrolytic current or an electrolytic voltage, so that the adjusted amount of the electrical charge is constant.

Abstract: An apparatus, system and method for clarifying wastewater using electrocoagulation with plasma discharge is provided. The apparatus includes a reactor with a hollow interior accommodating a volume of wastewater for treatment, and electrodes contacting or at least partially submerged in the wastewater. Electrical energy is supplied to the electrodes, such as three-phase AC power, of sufficient levels to generate plasma discharge from the electrodes and within the wastewater. Electrocoagulation occurs concurrent with the plasma discharge. A system including at least one reactor is a flow-through system, and may have a recirculation loop for recirculating wastewater for additional passes of treatment. A pump(s) and series of valves control the movement of wastewater through the system, and a control panel may be included to direct the operation of various components of the system. The control panel may also include a user interface for information display, input by an operator, and automation.
