摘要: An RFID system and method for communicating between a host computer, one or more interrogators connected to the host computer, and a large body of transponders distributed within an area covered by the interrogators. Each transponder originally has a common identification code, and upon initialization by the host computer internally generates a unique identification code based upon an internally generated random number. The host, through the interrogators, reads each of the identification codes associated with each transponder by iteratively transmitting a read identification code command along with a controlled variable. Each transponder compares the received controlled variable to an internally generated random number, and selectively transmits its identification code based upon the outcome of this comparison. After the completion of each read identification code iteration, the host adjusts the controlled variable based upon the responses received in the previous iteration. Preferably, communications between the interrogators and the transponders are DSSS signals in TDMA format, and the transponders use the random number generator to assign a time slot for transmission of their response. Each interrogator includes an antenna system utilizing a switch matrix to connect multiple antennas having different polarizations, which ensures that all transponders within the range of the interrogator receive the signals from the interrogator. In a further aspect, the interrogators are arranged in groups, each group in nearest neighbor format, to reduce the time for reading the transponders and the emissions generated when more than one interrogator is active at the same time.

摘要: Systems and methods for performing Raman spectrometry wherein a Raman spectroscopy system is mounted on a vehicle for on the move contaminant analysis. The system is configured to interrogate a target with a laser at a predetermined pulse repetition frequency (PRF), wherein during each PRF cycle, defined as 1/PRF, the laser is dual pulsed at a first wavelength and at a second wavelength. Raman spectra are collected and used to identify the target by matching a Raman signature with a given collected Raman spectra.

摘要: A dust mitigation and cleaning system for cleaning a surface includes a system housing secured around at least a portion of a section including the surface to be cleaned. The system housing includes a hollow member extending within the system housing toward and in general alignment with the surface to be cleaned, where an outlet of the system housing is defined by the hollow member. A duct section is secured to a portion of the system housing and includes an inlet to receive a gaseous fluid, such as air from an ambient environment in which the system is disposed, and an outlet in communication with the system housing. The system further includes a pressure generator disposed within the duct section, where operation of the fan generates a pressure differential between an interior portion of the system housing and the ambient environment such that gaseous fluid drawn into the system housing via the duct section is removed from the interior portion of the system housing via the outlet defined by the hollow member. In an exemplary embodiment, the system is disposed within a motorized vehicle to maintain a sensor window used with optical equipment clean during system operations.

摘要: A method and system for reading RFID tags in a high-density environment using a directional scanning antenna system is provided. The directional scanning antenna system consists of transmit and receive antennas having highly directional antenna patterns which work together to read and locate the tags. In operation both types of antennas are stepped in a circular fashion with respect to each other wherein the transmit antenna's antenna pattern pauses during rotation while the receive antenna pattern sweeps across the radiating antenna's path produced by the transmit antenna such that the antenna patterns produced from each isolate and determine the location of the tags.

摘要: A protective covering is disclosed for safeguarding the clothing of a nursing mother from being soiled during nursing of an infant. The covering includes a first member having an upper portion for positioning about the upper torso of a wearer. A pair of flap members depend from the upper portion and are arranged for selective covering of the breasts of the wearer. A second member is sized and shaped for covering the lower torso and lap of the wearer and has an upper edge adapted for positioning proximate to and beneath the breasts of the wearer. The second member is attached to the first member such that the flap members extend over the second member below the upper edge and downwardly toward the waist area of the wearer to provide ease of access to the breasts of the wearer as well as modesty protection during the nursing of an infant. In one arrangement of the invention, each of the flap members includes a plurality of selectively attachable fastening elements disposed thereon to enable the flap member to form a pocket when folded back onto itself for containing a hot or cold pack against the breast of the wearer.

摘要: A radiation sensitive detector employed with a thermal radiation scanning system to receive images that are scanned across said detector at predetermined velocities. The detector is sensitive to these scanned images and generates minority photocarriers that drift along the length of the detector in the opposite direction as a majority carrier flow caused by an applied biasing field. The cross-section of the detector is non-uniform along its length direction so that the density and velocity of the photocarrier packets may be appropriately controlled over the length of the detector.
