Abstract:
A mechanism for avoiding the initiation of control read transactions on a system bus coupling a host system having a host memory and an interface connected to a peripheral unit as data is moved between the host system and the peripheral unit is presented. Control information associated with data memory portions in host memory is written to the interface for data memory portions storing outgoing data and data memory portions to receive incoming data. The interface includes a controller for moving data between the host memory and the interface by first obtaining the control information for the associated data portions. The interface writes status reports in association with the movement of data between the interface and the host memory via the system bus. The mechanism thus enables data transfers to occur via the system without the initiation of control reads in absence of an exception condition.
Abstract:
An overhead stowage system for holding luggage above a passenger seat of an airplane has a holding bin movably coupled to a support structure of a modular design which may be preassembled prior assembly with the airplane. A motor drives a cable chain which is attached to the holding bin for moving the holding bin with respect to the structure. The motor is operatively coupled to a horizontal shaft which has a length corresponding to the length of the overhead stowage bin and which has an drive sprocket driving the cable chain as it is driven by the motor. A pulley disposed on the support structure redirects the force of the cable chain, as driven by the motor, for lifting the holding bin relative the support structure. The motor provides all or a partial force for lifting the holding bin. Switches and sensors located on the support structure and holding bin operate in accordance with the position of the holding bin relative the support structure for determining when and how the motor is to operate.
Abstract:
Systems and techniques for processing and/or forwarding packets are described. An ingress switch can use a QoS mapping mechanism to map a first set of Quality of Service (QoS) bits in a packet received from a customer to a second set of QoS bits for use in a Transparent Interconnection of Lots of Links (TRILL) packet which encapsulates the packet. The first set of QoS bits can be different from the second set of QoS bits. The TRILL packet can be processed and/or forwarded in the network based on the second set of QoS bits. At the egress switch, the TRILL packet can be decapsulated and the original packet with the original QoS bits (or QoS bits that are different from the original QoS bits) can be forwarded to the customer's network. In this manner, some embodiments of the present invention can preserve the QoS bits across a TRILL network.
Abstract:
A method for generating and localizing a signal in a solid phase substrate detection system comprises applying a solution of target material to a substrate; binding the target with a specific affinity molecule having an attached label, the label comprising multiple signal precursor molecules; applying a carrier to the substrate, and treating the label to convert the signal precursor molecules to signal generating molecules. The carrier comprises solvent for the label and thickener for localizing the signal. The carrier may include developer that converts signal precursor molecules to signal generating molecules. Developer is not necessary if the signal precursor molecules are converted to signal generating molecules by e.g. temperature change, pH change, sonication, light irradiation, microwave heating. A test device for detecting target in a fluid sample, and a kit of parts for determining the presence of target in a fluid sample are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for assisting movement of a bin into a closed position. An assistance system associated with the bin may be activated in response to a manipulation of a switch associated with the bin. The assistance system may comprise a biasing system and a switch. The biasing system may be configured to generate a force in a direction towards a closed position for the bin. A switch may be connected to the biasing system and configured to activate the biasing system when a selected amount of weight is present in the bin. The force in the direction towards the closed position for the bin may be generated in response to activating the assistance system.
Abstract:
A system for attaching a wall panel includes a wall panel and a lock strip. The wall panel has a back and a tab extending from the back. The lock strip is moveably attached to a wall frame member, and has a three-position locking slot, including a receiving portion configured to receive the tab, a locking portion configured to lock the tab with respect to the frame member, and a release portion configured to release the tab. The wall panel is removably attachable to the frame member by inserting the tab into the receiving portion and linearly moving the lock strip to lock the tab in the locking portion. The system can be used for attaching interior sidewall panels in an aircraft.
Abstract:
A LPM search engine includes a plurality of exact match (EXM) engines and a moderately sized TCAM. Each EXM engine uses a prefix bitmap scheme that allows the EXM engine to cover multiple consecutive prefix lengths. Thus, instead of covering one prefix length L per EXM engine, the prefix bitmap scheme enables each EXM engine to cover entries having prefix lengths of L, L+1, L+2 and L+3, for example. As a result, fewer EXM engines are potentially underutilized, which effectively reduces quantization loss. Each EXM engine provides a search result with a determined fixed latency when using the prefix bitmap scheme. The results of multiple EXM engines and the moderately sized TCAM are combined to provide a single search result, representative of the longest prefix match. In one embodiment, the LPM search engine supports 32-bit IPv4 (or 128-bit IPv6) search keys, each having associated 15-bit level 3 VPN identification values.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical sensing device, which comprises a light source emitting a light; a beam splitter; an SPR sensor unit comprising a sensing surface; and a detecting mechanism; and a converting unit converting the first beam and the second beam from the optical device into a two-dimensional interference fringe pattern. From the above-mentioned configuration, an extra phase shift of a detection beam in SPR phase measurement is obtained. The differential measurement approach has shown to achieve a sensitivity figure significantly better than the best result that can be obtained from the prior art in the field of the measurement based on an SPR sensor.
Abstract:
A wire bonding method and apparatus are provided for electronic components to enable PR processing and wire bonding to be carried out substantially concurrently. The apparatus comprises a bond head carrying a bonding tool for performing wire bonding and a rotary motor coupled to the bond head that is configured to change an angular orientation of the bonding tool relative to an electronic component to be bonded. There are first and second carriers for respectively mounting electronic components for wire bonding, and an optical system is arranged and configured to view bonding points on an electronic component mounted on the first carrier when the bonding tool is located over an electronic component mounted on the second carrier to perform wire bonding.
