Abstract:
The present invention is based on the discovery of novel species of the genus Helicobacter that are associated with gastro-esophageal ulceration in pigs. In particular, a novel species, H. cerdo, has been used as a source of antigenic material for the development of vaccine for the treatment of the gastro-esophageal disorders. Most advantageously, the novel Helicobacter and the porcine circoviruses associated with PMWS in pigs are useful for providing combination vaccines whereby immunogens derived from both types of pathogens may be codelivered to the target animal to stimulate the generation of protective antibodies and immunity. The invention, therefore, provides vaccines that are useful for the tratment of gastro-esophageal ulceration and PMWS in porcines. The present invention includes, therefore, multivalent immunogenic compositions and vaccines, multivaccine kits, and combined immunization or vaccination methods which make it possible to use such combined immunization or vaccination programmes.
Abstract:
A net support structure is disclosed which provides for easy assembly and disassembly at any location for enabling games such as tennis and volleyball to be played as well as providing a rebound net or safety net for use in other sporting games or for the practice of sporting games. The net support structure includes a plurality of modules (12, 22, 24 and 26) which are joined together by an elastic cord (50) or springs (100) and which when connected together tension the modules to form a net support structure and which can be collapsed by disconnecting the modules and allowing the modules to be folded whilst at the same time keeping the modules joined by the tensioning means. Elbows (30) are provided which form corners and which are permanently or releasably joined by the cord (50). If releasably joined the elbows (30) can be repositioned to alter the configuration of the net support structure.
Abstract:
A method for the treatment of wool so as to impart shrink resistance and which comprises treating the wool simultaneously with permonsulphuric acid, or a salt thereof, one or more scouring or wetting agents and one or more fiber swelling or dispersing agents. In a preferred embodiment, the method of treatment further comprises subjecting the wool to a polymer treatment. The method may be operated either as a continuous or as a batch process.
Abstract:
Aqueous grouting compositions based on high alumina cement have the onset of setting delayed for upwards of one month by the incorporation therein of a set-inhibiting agent such as boric acid or gluconic acid delta lactone and can then be rapidly reactivated for use by the incorporation therein of a reactivator, for example lithium carbonate, to produce a high strength hardened cementitious composition. The reactivated composition can advantageously be used to anchor a reinforcing element such as a rockbolt or dowel in a borehole and for this purpose the set-inhibited cementitious composition and the reactivator can be packaged in the separate compartments respectively of a dual-compartment frangible cartridge.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a prepreg comprising a structural layer of conductive fibres comprising thermosetting resin in the interstices, and a first outer layer of resin comprising thermosetting resin, and comprising a population of conductive free filaments located at the interface between the structural layer and the outer resin layer which, when cured under elevated temperature, produces a cured composite material comprising a cured structural layer of packed conductive fibres and a first outer layer of cured resin, the outer layer of cured resin, comprising a proportion of the population of conductive free filaments dispersed therein, and to a process for manufacturing prepregs wherein the electrically conductive fibres pass a fibre disrupting means to cause a proportion of the fibres on an external face of the sheet to become free filaments.
Abstract:
A process for the manufacture of a prepreg comprising feeding a layer of unidirectional conductive fibres having a defined width, bringing into contact with a first face of the fibres a first layer of resin comprising thermosetting resin, and compressing the resin and fibres together by passing over one or more impregnation rollers, wherein the pressure exerted onto the conductive fibres and resin does not exceed 40 kg per centimetre of the width of the conductive fibres, and the resin being in sufficient amount for the resin to enter the interstices of the fibres and leave a first outer layer of resin essentially free of unidirectional conductive fibres.
Abstract:
A semiconductor device including a doped substrate of a first doping polarity and a doped semiconductor material of a second doping polarity. The semiconductor material is on, or in, the substrate, and the second doping polarity is opposite the first doping polarity such that the semiconductor material and the substrate form a diode. The semiconductor device further includes an inductor on or above the semiconductor material, and a pattern in the semiconductor material for reducing eddy currents. The pattern includes a doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity and a least one trench within the doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity, wherein, at least at a depth at which the trench is closest to the inductor, the doped semiconductor material of the first doping polarity fully surrounds the trench so that, at least at the depth, the trench does not touch the doped semiconductor material of the second doping polarity.

An air dryer for an air braking system of a vehicle, the air dryer comprising a mounting (20), and a removable desiccant canister (10) screw-threaded to said mounting (20) about a spin axis (25) and having a peripheral sealing ring (13,14), wherein the mounting includes an upstanding protrusion (28) radially spaced from said axis (25) and adapted to engage an annular recess (17) of said canister (10) within said ring, said protrusion (28) being hollow, and the interior of said protrusion (28) being connected to a vent for air under pressure in the system.
Abstract:
Techniques for registering certificates after the issuance of the certificates are provided. A service provider securely registers a client's identity and its certificate without depending on or using an existing basis of trust, such as that provided by domain-joined clients or a security directory (e.g., MICROSOFT's ACTIVE DIRECTORY). The service provider provides services, such as, by way of example and not a limitation, email services, web application services, application services, etc., based on identifiers (e.g., service IDs) issued to registered clients. The service provider subsequently uses the issued identifier to authenticate a client requesting a service or services, and to authorize the client to receive the requested service or services.
Abstract:
A compliant electrical contact assembly for interconnecting a lead or terminal of an integrated circuit having two cantilever beams positioned within a slot in a housing arranged such that a portion of the beams slide along a portion of one another and within the housing as the beams are deformed elastically in order to allow more travel and compliance without yielding or totally deforming the beam. The sliding action during deformation effectively multiplies the total compliance in the assembly above and beyond the compliance otherwise available to elastic compression of the cantilever beams.
