    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal layer which is arranged between first and second aligning films formed on inner sides of first and second substrates, has liquid crystal molecules twist-aligned in a direction from the first aligning film toward the second aligning film when an electric field is not applied between first and second electrodes, and generates retardation of substantially λ/2 with respect to transmitted light. First and second polarizing plates are arranged on outer sides of the first and second substrates. A transmission axis or an absorption axis of the first polarizing plate is substantially matched with a direction along which the liquid crystal molecules in the vicinity of the first aligning film are aligned when a sufficiently intensive electric field is applied.

    摘要: There is provided a vehicle window pane that can be manufactured at low cost and can reduce burning sensation of the skin of a passenger in the vehicle, and a manufacturing method therefor. With a glass plate 1 held by a glass plate holding member 4 in the vertical direction, a nozzle 2 is used to eject infrared cutoff liquid 3 onto the upper portion 1b of the glass plate 1. The infrared cutoff liquid 3 ejected onto the upper portion 1b of the glass plate 1 flows vertically downward, and is applied onto the glass plate 1. The glass plate 1 to which the infrared cutoff liquid 2 has been applied is dried for approximately five minutes at room temperature. Then, the glass plate 1 to which the infrared cutoff liquid 3 has been applied is placed in an oven preheated to 200° C., heated for ten minutes, and then cooled. The glass plate 1 having the infrared cutoff film thereon is thus formed. The resultant glass plate 1 having the infrared cutoff film thereon is installed in a vehicle 5 in such a way that the lower portion 1c of the glass plate 1 is located on the upper side of the vehicle 5 and the upper portion 1b of the glass plate 1 is located on the lower side of the vehicle 5.

    摘要: White points (point-like abnormal emission) are made scare even if prismatic projection rows of a prism sheet are pressed against an emission face of a light guide plate. A plurality of prismatic projections are formed side by side on an inner face of a prism sheet. Each prismatic projection row has a steep slope for light input and a gentle slope for inner-reflection, the gentle slope being provided with a plurality of fine projections in a predetermined range near to the tip of the prismatic projection row. Fine projections may be ridge-like or dome-like projections. The tips of prismatic projection rows may be diverge to form a plurality of top portions having cross sections like triangles. Even if LCD panel or the like presses the prism sheet partially hard against the emission face of the light guide plate and causes tip portions of the prismatic projection rows to be subject to yield-deformation, conspicuous white points are avoided from appearing because contacting occur at a plurality of scattered parts.

    摘要: A lamp holder 11 is made of white synthetic resin by molding such as injection molding. A reflection sheet 12 made of high-reflectance material such as silver or aluminum has a central portion 12a cut out and is affixed to an inner surface 11a of the lamp holder 11. The light reached the inner surface of the lamp holder 11 of light emitted from a lamp 1 is regularly reflected by the reflection sheet 12 and is diffusively reflected by the cutout portion of the reflection sheet 12. A considerable part of the light reflected on the white surface reaches the vicinity of electrode portions 1a of a discharge tube 1 to enter from an incidence end surface of a light guide in the vicinity of electrode portions 1a. Thus, the difference of light-supplying power between the central portion and the end portions (in the vicinity of the electrode portions 1a) of the lamp is compensated. When the reflection sheet made of a resilient material is used, the reflection sheet can be fixed utilizing the resiliency by putting the reflection sheet along the inner curved surface of the lamp holder. Instead of the reflection sheet, metal (silver or aluminum) may be evaporated on the inner surface of the lamp holder.
