摘要: When making yogurt and quark, mineral salts are selectively removed from milk or other liquid protein-containing milk products and if desired the protein content concentrated by membrane filtration, before coagulating the protein by incubation, for example, with yogurt or quark lactic acid cultures. An improved protein/viscosity relationship is found, giving greater yields of product. Quark is also found to accept a better over-run when made in accordance with the invention.

The systems and methods may further nano-filter the ultra-filtered permeate to produce a nano-filtered retentate and a nano-filtered permeate, wherein the nano-filtered retentate comprises lactose. The systems and methods may further perform reverse osmosis (RO) on the nano-filtered permeate to produce a reverse osmosis retentate and a reverse osmosis permeate.

摘要: The method of solvent recovery includes using a plurality of solvent recovery units to recover solvent from a dilute solution. The solvent recovery units can include a plurality of reverse osmosis or forward osmosis membrane systems arranged in series. For reverse osmosis, at least some of the concentrate in a last reverse osmosis unit of the series is recycled back to the permeate of that unit to provide a mixed permeate. The mixed permeate is then passed successively to the permeate side of each preceding reverse osmosis unit in the series. For forward osmosis, a draw solution is passed sequentially from the permeate side of each unit to the permeate side of the preceding unit. The draw solution may be prepared by concentrating part of the concentrate stream by evaporation and recycling it back as a draw solution.

摘要: A method for highly concentrating aqueous solutions containing thermally sensitive organic constituents and with or without mineral constituents, wherein firstly, a major portion of the water is extracted by membrane filtration from the solution for pre-concentration and is discharged from the process and the solution which is pre-concentrated is then subjected to a freeze concentration procedure, in which, in the form of separated ice crystallisate, further water is extracted from the solution. To promote results, that concentration may be effected in the freeze concentration procedure until a viscosity of the mother solution of at least 0.0002 m2/s is achieved, and in that the separated ice crystallisate from the freeze concentration with the mother solution adhering thereto as a suspension is returned to the membrane filtration upstream of the membrane filtration or after melting of the ice crystallisate.

摘要: A demineralised whey powder is suggested which is obtainable by: (a) Separating raw milk, removing the cream; (b) Subjecting the skimmed milk such obtained to microfiltration or microdiafiltration, obtaining a whey protein-rich permeate P1 and a retentate R1 containing casein and GMP in the process; (c) Subjecting the permeate P1 to column chromatography separation, in which the lactoferrin contained therein remains on the column; (d) Subjecting the permeate, from which lactoferrin had been removed, to dialysis; and (e) Dehydrating the diluate such obtained.

摘要: Provided is a process for producing a concentrated or a concentrated and sterilized milk composition, including subjecting the composition to multi-stage recirculating reverse osmosis, where during recirculating reverse osmosis (RRO), for at least part of the RRO process, a step in the RRO process, or during the entire RRO process, the RRO process is carried out at a temperature of from greater than 45° F. to 60° F., where water is removed, to produce a concentrated milk composition. The concentrated milk composition can optionally be sterilized by first heating the concentrated composition to a first elevated temperature of from 175° F. to 185° F. (and in some cases to 210° F.) within a time period of 45 seconds to produce a first heated composition.
