Abstract: A filter cartridge comprises a filter housing having a filter element disposed therewithin that comprises a filter media, and an end cap coupled to a top end of the filter media. The top end is positionable proximate to a filter head. A filter element outlet conduit extends from an inner rim of the end cap towards the filter head and is extendable into a filter head outlet. An end cap ledge extends radially outwards from an outer periphery of the end cap. A first sealing member is disposed at least partially on the end cap ledge and forms an axial seal with the filter head, and a second sealing member is disposed around the filter element outlet conduit on a radially outward surface thereof, and forms a radial seal with a radially inward surface of the filter head outlet conduit when the filter head is coupled to the filter cartridge.

Abstract: A mechanical interlock system for a fluid filter is described herein. The mechanical interlock system may include a filter cartridge and a filter cartridge manifold for receiving the filter cartridge. The filter cartridge may include a filter body, a fluid inlet and outlet, and an integrated locking head. The integrated locking head may include a key extending radially outward from the integrated locking head and channels on an outer surface of the integrated locking head. The filter cartridge manifold may include an insertion and extraction tube for receiving the key and latching mechanisms. The insertion and extraction tube may include a primary keyway and a secondary keyway. The key, keyways, latching mechanisms, and/or channels may interact to maintain alignment of the filter cartridge during insertion of the filter cartridge into an appliance including the filter cartridge manifold.

Abstract: A filter cartridge with a longitudinal axis has mounting lugs engaging mating manifold flanges in an appliance to hold the cartridge in the appliance with fluid flowing through the cartridge at a line pressure of X psi while the lugs are designed for a greater, rated pressure Y. Each lug has a deformable portion and an aligned stop portion that are axially aligned. A distance d separates each stop portion from the axially aligned deformable portion. The deformable portion is below the stop portion and located to contact the manifold flange during use. The deformable portion permanently deforms above the rated pressure Y and below a qualification pressure Z that is at least twice the pressure X.

A filter cartridge usable in the topload liquid filter assembly includes first and second protrusions and cover-gripper members. Methods of use, installing, servicing, and retaining can be practiced.

Abstract: A reverse osmosis filter assembly for fluid filtration having a push-activated lock and release mechanism. A push filter design activates a floating key lock upon insertion and extraction, where the filter key may be used simultaneously as a lock and as an identifier for particular filter attributes. The filter base may be situated inline, and in fluid communication, with the raw water ingress, permeate egress, and reject water egress. The reverse osmosis filter housing assembly may be attached to, and removed from, the filter base by a push-actuated release. Upon insertion, the filter key shifts the filter lock longitudinally to receive interlocking segments. Upon extraction, the same axial push shifts the filter lock further to align the interlocking fingers within gaps that allow for easy extraction. The specific key lock design allows a user to identify and match certain filter configurations received by the mechanical support, and reject other filter configurations.

Abstract: A water filter cartridge has an end cap with separate inlet and outlet nozzles connected to the end of a cylindrical tube that extends from the end cap. The nozzles are slanted and laterally offset from the cylindrical tube. A cam surface on the outer side of the nozzles actuates valves in a mating manifold. The passage in the nozzles is conical, expanding toward the nozzle end and opening onto a portion of the nozzle side to form a sharper tip. Expanding ice pushes itself out of the conical passage and facilitates ice removal. The narrow end of the conical passage facilitates breakage and removal of ice from the nozzle.
