Abstract:
A combination comprising a bed of a particulate copper-containing catalyst and, a guard bed of a particulate composition containing a) lead and/or at least one lead compound that reacts with hydrogen chloride and b) a support therefor. The lead compound is preferably lead nitrate. The combination is of particular utility for the low temperature shift reaction wherein carbon monoxide is reacted with steam to produce hydrogen and carbon dioxide.

Abstract:
A composition comprising a metal oxide and a promoter, wherein at least a portion of the promoter is present as a reduced valence promoter, and methods of preparing such composition are disclosed. The thus-obtained composition is employed in a desulfurization zone to remove sulfur from a hydrocarbon stream.
Abstract:
There is provided a deodorizing and absorbing material comprising RB ceramics and/or CRB ceramics as an odor absorbing material, which has excellent deodorizing properties and long term persistency thereof and is easily fabricated into a complicated shape when the material is used as a molded product.
Abstract:
The invention according to one aspect provides oxygen sorbent materials, which are able to remove trace amounts of oxygen in either a gas-flow or an enclosed system over a wide temperature range. In particular, the invention relates to bulk solid oxygen sorbents that can lower equilibrium oxygen concentrations to below 1 part per trillion (1 ppt). The oxygen sorbents have high surface area, nano-sized crystalline mixed oxides that include cerium oxide, zirconium oxide and preferably yttrium oxide, and an aliquot of catalytic materials such as precious metal. The present sorbents can work in noxious environments, since the materials are not sensitive to toxic elements, which would typically poison conventional catalysts. In another aspect, a product and method for fabricating an opto-electronic device that includes a getter material, incorporating an iteration of the sorbent material, is provided. The getter material operates by bulk transport and has a capacity to absorb and retain large quantities of oxygen per volume and other contaminants over a wide temperature range. This is a useful feature for opto-electronicnullalso known as photonicnulldevices, especially those with polymeric components, since they often suffer from photo-degradation caused by the presence of gaseous oxygen and other contaminants in the optical pathway.
Abstract:
A new adsorbent of a porous mineral oxide material with apatite crystals, preferably hydroxyapatite crystals, in the pores of the mineral oxide material is disclosed. The adsorbent is useful for protein and nucleic acid separations
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an adsorbent for selective adsorption of unsaturated hydrocarbons from its mixture with saturated hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, permanent gases or mixture thereof comprising of silver or copper compound 1 to 70 wt % and substrate 30 to 99%. The invention also discloses a method for the manufacture of an adsorbent for use in selective adsorption of unsaturated hydrocarbons or mixtures thereof from a mixed gas, which comprises impregnating or dispersing a silver (I) or copper (I) compound on a mesoporous substrate or support to form a composite material and subjecting said composite material to heat treatment. In another important aspect, the present invention also relates to a process for separating ethylene and/or propylene from gas mixtures containing them by passing a stream of said gas mixture through a mass of said adsorbent at a temperature from 0null C. to 170null C. and a pressure from 0.1 to 100 atmospheres and releasing the adsorbed ethylene and/or propylene by lowering pressure and/or increasing temperature.
Abstract:
Adsorbents useful in the selective adsorption of unsaturated hydrocarbons, the manufacture of the adsorbents, and processes for the separation of unsaturated hydrocarbons using the adsorbents.

Abstract:
Trialkyl arsines are removed from fluids, in particular gases, by contacting with a solid sorbent material containing at least one gold component (preferably AuCl and/or AuCl.sub.3 and/or NH.sub.4 AuCl.sub.4) and a support material (preferably alumina and/or silica). This process can be used for colorimetrically detecting the presence of arsines in gases.
