Abstract:
A plant for preparing and feeding a coating composition to a coating head for paper or the like includes a plurality of hoppers, each hopper being intended to receive and deliver one ingredient of the composition. The plant further includes a premixer tank which is fed by the hoppers and mixes and homogenizes the formed composition and a homogenizing tank, fed by the premixer tank, having a high-speed stirrer for shearing the composition. A buffer capacity is directly and continuously fed by the homogenizing tank and connected to the coating head, wherein the buffer capacity preferably has a volume and an attached level detector for determining when the composition in the buffer capacity is below a predetermined level. A set of controllers attached to the level detector control the delivery of components from the plurality of hoppers.
Abstract:
A process and an apparatus for dosing and applying liquid or pasty media to an object are disclosed. A dosing apparatus filled with the liquid or pasty medium is positioned relative to the object. The dispenser-like dosing apparatus is pressurized with a pressure surge, so that the dosing apparatus plunger is displaced and the medium ejected. The filling level of the medium in the dosing apparatus is determined by means of a filling level sensor and pressurization is modified as a function of the filling level.
Abstract:
A method of an apparatus for insuring application of a preselected amount of processing fluid to photographic film material are disclosed. A weight sensing device weighs a container of the fluid and permits pumping of the fluid if there is an adequate amount of fluid contained in the container. A magnetic sensing arrangement also effects reversal of the pumping after a preselected length of material has had fluid applied thereto. At the completion of fluid application, the fluid is evacuated from the nozzle.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for metering liquid colorant from a primary color reservoir having a valve for controlling the liquid flow into a collecting container. The process comprises the steps of disposing the valve into required position, operating a drive member to open and close the valve, permitting the liquid colorant to flow into the container, preparing three stages of successive metering controls, and automatically metering the liquid colorant through one or more stages. The apparatus comprises a plurality of reservoir bases, tilting device, operating member of the valve and balance for measuring the weight.
Abstract:
A marking apparatus comprises a plurality of containers of colored inks and a solvent connected to a mixing chamber and a rotating applicator. Insulated wire is marked by passing it through the applicator housing which collects the excess colored ink. The excess ink may be returned selectively to either the mixing chamber or a disposal container. Solvent purging of the system permits rapid changeover of colors.
Abstract:
An adaptive hot melt feed system includes a melt system, a feed system, a gas control device, a sensor, and a controller. The melt system includes a heated vessel. The feed system is configured to deliver a solid material to the vessel of the melt system for melting. The gas control device is configured to control a supply of gas provided to the feed system to drive the solid material from the feed system to the melt system. The sensor can be configured to detect an amount of material in the vessel of the melt system. The controller is in electronic communication with the gas control device and is programmed to signal the gas control device to vary the supply of gas to the feed system based on a fill metric determined by the controller.
Abstract:
A system is disclosed for determining process parameters for the spray application of viscous fluids, which can include an application system, which can be actuated by predefining input parameters, for a viscous fluid having at least the components of metering device, fluid valve and application nozzle. The dynamic behavior of the application system can be dependent, with respect to the volume flow profile of the viscous fluid during the application, and also on predefinable control process parameters. Methods are disclosed for determining and applying process parameters for the spray application of viscous fluids with a system, and for controlling the spray application of an application system, which can be actuated by predefining input parameters, for a viscous fluid.
Abstract:
An apparatus for melting thermoplastic material is disclosed. The apparatus includes a heated manifold and at least one heating element disposed within the heated manifold. The heated manifold defines a plurality of cavities, a pump supply passage, and a discharge passage. The plurality of cavities are spaced apart from one another, and each receives particles of thermoplastic material from a hopper. The particles of thermoplastic material are melted within the plurality of cavities. The pump supply passage receives molten thermoplastic material from the plurality of cavities and supplies the molten thermoplastic material to a pump. The discharge passage receives pressurized molten thermoplastic material from the pump and is in fluid communication with a dispenser. The heating element transfers heat substantially throughout the heated manifold.
Abstract:
A hot melt adhesive supply system is disclosed. The hot melt adhesive supply system includes an outer container defining an upper cavity and a lower cavity. The upper cavity includes an inner container having a top opening to receive unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces and a bottom aperture. The system also includes a dispensing mechanism between the upper cavity and the lower cavity. The dispensing mechanism regulates the dispensing of the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces from the upper cavity to the lower cavity. The dispensing mechanism includes a base plate and one or more rotating members that rotate to move the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces through a gap defined between the base plate and the bottom aperture. The system also includes a transfer conduit that communicates the unmelted hot melt adhesive pieces from the lower cavity to a hot melt adhesive melter.
