The technique for providing protection from unauthorized utilization of the content so stored is provided publicly in order to allow for those utilizing a conforming media device to master or generate content protected according to the present invention. Various ways in which to protect content are disclosed including verification of the authenticity of a particular media, utilization of an accepted list of media play-back devices and their corresponding published public keys in order to securely pass media content keys thereto, and utilization of an external contact to provide media content keys and/or updates of accepted media play-back devices.

    摘要： A computer system for high-performance video and audio manipulations comprising a locked memory cartridge and an audio/video/compact disk (CD) drive controller/coprocessor. The computer system has a central processing unit (CPU) with at least one bus associated therewith, with the bus having at least one bus line. The cartridge comprises a readable memory, a memory control circuit, a lock control circuit, and a connector all in circuit communication with each other. The connector allows the memory, the memory control circuit, and the lock control circuit to be pluggably connected in circuit communication with the CPU. The memory control circuit scrambles some of the bus lines, thereby scrambling the data in the memory on reset, and unscrambles the bus lines responsive to inputs from the lock control circuit. The lock control circuit monitors the bus, waiting for a proper combination of bus values to be asserted onto the bus, at which time the lock control circuit causes the memory control circuit to unscramble the bus lines. The audio/video/CD drive controller/coprocessor comprises a CPU interface, a CPU cache, a memory controller, a memory bus arbitrator, a DRAM refresher, a video controller, a CD drive controller, a digital signal processor (DSP) sound coprocessor, and a "blitter" graphics coprocessor in an integrated package.

    摘要： The invention relates to exchangeable memory or PC-cards having several integrated circuits for personal computers.These memory or PC-cards serve as a large capacity mass memory for replacing floppy disks and other exchangeable magnetic supports. In order to improve the possibilities of these cards, it is proposed that to them be added a microprocessor (MPC) and the direct wiring of the operational bus (BD2) of said microprocessor to the card memory (MEM). In this way, a card is obtained which contains in direct form performable programs previously loaded by the computer (PC) in which has been inserted the card. Thus, the microprocessor functions not only with an internal set program memory, but also with performable programs loaded into the card by the computer and which can therefore be modified at random (provided that the user clearance procedures are respected).

    摘要： An external memory cartridge for replaceable connection with a video game main unit contains a security device that prevents unauthorized memory cartridges from playing on the game main unit. The video game main unit connects to a television receiver, and includes at least one video graphics processing arrangement that controls the television receiver to display a changing picture defined by video game software contained in the external memory cartridge. The external memory cartridge has a cartridge housing that contains a video game memory device and a security device. The video game memory device contains video game software. An electrical connector couples the video game memory device with said video game main unit to permit the video game main unit to access and execute the video game software. The security device includes at least one input terminal and at least one output terminal connected to said electrical connector. The security device may comprise a microprocessor that performs a stored security program. It receives input signals from its electrical connector on the input terminal and generates, on its output terminal, results based on said received input signals and the stored security program.
