    Abstract: A vehicle sunvisor assembly includes a portion of a vehicle body structure and a retractable sunvisor assembly. The vehicle body structure includes an A-pillar, a windscreen and a roof structure with the A-pillar and the windscreen extending downward from the roof structure. The retractable sunvisor assembly is attached to the A-pillar below the roof structure such that in a retracted orientation the retractable sunvisor assembly is positioned along-side the A-pillar and in an extended in-use orientation a portion of the retractable sunvisor assembly extends away from the A-pillar covering an upper area of the windscreen.

    Abstract: A vehicle door assembly includes an outer door panel that is fixed to an outer periphery of an inner door panel such that the inner door panel and the outer door panel define a door cavity therebetween. A support bracket is attached to a forward area of the inner door panel within the door cavity. A reinforcing panel is attached to the support bracket within the door cavity. A window opening support panel is attached to the support bracket, the reinforcing panel and the inner door panel within the door cavity. A side view mirror is located along an exterior side of the outer door panel.     Abstract: A vehicle engine cradle structure includes a front member, a rear assembly and a side member. The front member extends in a vehicle lateral direction and has a first outboard end and a second outboard end. The rear assembly extends in the vehicle lateral direction and has a first outboard area and a second outboard area opposite the first outboard area. The first side member has a first forward end, a first rearward end and a first forward outboard portion all being formed as a single monolithic unitary element. The first forward end is fixedly attached to the first outboard end of the front member. The first rearward end is fixedly attached to the first outboard area of the rear assembly.     Abstract: Proactively mitigating risk to a vehicle traversing a vehicle transportation network is described. First and second hazard zones for first and second objects ahead of the vehicle are respectively determined. The first hazard zone includes a first target lateral constraint that extends over a left lane boundary, and the second hazard zone includes a second target lateral constraint that extends over a right lane boundary. The lateral constraints separately allow the vehicle to avoid the objects without a speed constraint. Where the first and second hazard zones overlap in the longitudinal direction, a lateral buffer is allocated between the lateral constraints to generate first and second allocated lateral constraints. Longitudinal constraints are respectively determined based on times of arrival at each hazard zone. Using the constraints, a proactive trajectory is determined that includes a lateral contingency, a longitudinal contingency, or both. The vehicle is controlled according to the trajectory.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes lighting assemblies (e.g., taillight assemblies) for vehicles that diffuse and block light transmission from a centralized light source, which inhibits (if not entirely prevents) the creation and perception of hotspots from one or more points-of-view (e.g., from the sides and/or the rear of the vehicle) while producing a more homogenous overall appearance. In one embodiment of the disclosure, the lighting assembly includes: a light source; a diffuser that is spaced axially from the light source; a lens that is spaced axially from the diffuser; and a shield that is located axially between the diffuser and the lens. The diffuser includes first and second lateral ends and is configured to receive and disperse light from the light source through the lighting assembly. The shield is configured to interfere with light transmission from the light source through the at least one lens and thereby inhibit hotspot perception.

    Abstract: A multipurpose protective cap for a transmission prior to and during assembly with a drive shaft has a base portion having a cylindrical cross-section of a first inner diameter. The base portion comprises a side wall defining the cylindrical cross-section and having an outer edge and an inner edge, and a membrane spanning the cylindrical cross-section of the base portion at the outer edge of the side wall. An insertion portion extends from the base portion opposite the outer edge, the insertion portion having a cylindrical cross-section of a second inner diameter, the second inner diameter smaller than the first inner diameter. A contamination removal portion is formed in an interior surface of the insertion portion and configured to remove debris as the drive shaft passes through the insertion portion. A handle extends from the side wall of the base portion.
