Abstract:
This invention relates to organosiloxanes which have SiC-bonded ester groups and contain at least one unit of the general formula:ROOCCH.sub.2 CH(COOR)CH.sub.2 CHR'CH.sub.2 Si(CH.sub.3).sub.a O.sub.3-a/2in which R represents the same or different monovalent hydrocarbon radicals having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, which are free of aliphatic unsaturation and which may contain one ether oxygen atom; R' represents hydrogen or a methyl group (CH.sub.3) and a is 0, 1 or 2. These organosiloxanes can be prepared by hydrolyzing or co-hydrolyzing silanes of the general formula:ROOCCH.sub.2 CH(COOR)CH.sub.2 CHR'CH.sub.2 Si(CH.sub.3).sub.a X.sub.3-a,where R, R' and a are the same as above and X represents the same or different hydrolyzable atoms or groups. Also, they may be prepared by the addition of a diester of allyl succinic acid and/or methallyl succinic acid to an organosiloxane containing Si-bonded hydrogen. These new organosiloxanes may be used as lubricants for inorganic and organic fibers, metal surfaces and as hydraulic fluids.

Abstract:
Grease compositions containing nitrites and amines form N-nitrosamines, which are suppressed by the addition to such compositions of a combination of metal ascorbate or metal isoascorbate with alpha tocopherol.
Abstract:
A compound having the following general formula (I); ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 stand for a hydrocarbyl group having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, x is a number of 0.5 - 2.3, useful as an additive for lubricants.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an aqueous drilling fluid containing a tall oil fraction as a lubricating additive, a method of drilling with said drilling fluid containing said tall oil lubricating additive and the tall oil lubricating additive per se.
Abstract:
A non-aqueous lubricant which is adapted for use with food-handling machinery. It comprises white mineral oil as the principal constituent and a minor proportion of a fatty amide.
Abstract:
An extreme pressure lubricant composition comprising a lubricating oil containing O-ethyl-S-n-butylthiosulfenyl xanthate, O-ethyl-S-tert-butyl-thiosulfenyl xanthate, t-butyl-t-butylthiosulfinate, or a polymeric polysulfide of a mercaptoethyl cyclohexane thiol.
Abstract:
A new coating composition, coated article and method are disclosed herein dealing with the preparation of coated surfaces which are useful, for example, in glass molding wherein a relatively lubricious, abrasion resistant surface is desired under conditions of high operating temperatures. The coating composition in its most basic aspect involves a dispersion of an aluminum phosphate and a very fine particle size pigment material together with other materials including novel dispersion stabilizing ingredients and a special water dispersible resinous film-modifying agent.
Abstract:
The dispersion of an inorganic high molecular weight graphite fluoride having a formula of (CF)n in a lubricant is improved by the addition of finely divided silica particles. An improved lubricant composed of base oil, graphite fluoride, and silica has excellent physical and chemical properties hitherto unattainable.
Abstract:
WATER-BASED, METALWORKING COOLANTS MAY BE MADE TO ADHERE TO METAL SUFACES BY INCORPORATING WITH SUCH COOLANTS SMALL AMOUNTS OF WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMERS.
Abstract:
COMPOSITIONS SUBSTITUTED WITH IODINE, WITH EITHER BROMINE OR CHLORINE, AND WITH EITHER ALKOXY, ACYLOXY, OR HYDROXY GROUPS ARE PREPARED BY ADDING A MIXTURE OF IODINE AND EITHER BROMINE OR CHLORINE OR IBR OR ICL TO ALPHA-OLEFINS IN THE PRESENCE OF ALCOHOLS, CARBOXYLIC ACIDS, OR WATER. LUBRICATING COMPOSITIONS USEFUL FOR LUBRICATING HIGH TEMPERATURE ALLOYS ARE PREPARED BY ADDING SUCH COMPOUNDS TO OILS OF LUBRICATING VISCOSITY.
