Abstract:
A lubricating composition comprises an amide and at least one additive. The amide is the reaction product of a secondary, branched amine and a carboxylic acid. The carboxylic acid may be a monocarboxylic acid or a dicarboxylic acid, including dimer acid. The amide is hydrolytically stable, and may be used to increase the hydrolytic stability of the lubricant composition. Alternatively, the amide may be used to increase the additive solubility or detergency of the lubricant composition.
Abstract:
Chemical compositions, lubricant compositions, and methods of using the same are provided. The lubricant composition may comprise at least on carrier. In certain methods, the lubricant composition may be provided to at least one surface, wherein the lubricant composition reduces a coefficient of friction of the at least one surface. In certain methods, the lubricant composition may be provided to at least one surface, wherein the lubricant composition reduces wear of the at least one surface.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a high-temperature grease which is used inter alia in corrugated cardboard plants and comprises exclusively fluorine-free base oil.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel water soluble metal working fluid compositions, their use to work metal, a process for working metal using such compositions and the metal worked article of manufacture. More particularly, this invention relates to fluid compositions useful in cutting, grinding, shaping and other metal working operations which require a lubricant. The terms nullfirst Group Anull and nullsecond Group Bnull are used herein to denote different groups and not to indicate any sequence of use or selection as any possible combination or sequence of use of a component(s) is envisioned without limit of any kind. The disclosed fluid compositions are also anticorrosive and environmentally more acceptable than current oil based fluids. There has now been discovered an essentially odorless, substantially non-oil misting, water-soluble metal working fluid comprising, at least one component selected from a first Group A herein and optionally one or more components selected from a second Group B herein preferably with the balance of the composition being water and other (optional) minor ingredients. When a component is employed from Group A and a component is employed from Group B the action of the combination generally enhances performance of the resulting combination with contain moieties from both Group A and Group B.
Abstract:
Novel non-symmetric, partially fluorinated compositions and method of manufacture which are useful as lubricants or as additives to lubricant formulations involving the molecular structure: R1fnullFnullnullR2nullFnullnullR3h where R1f represents a wholly or partially fluorinated organic residue end group, Fnull and Fnull represent functional linkages which may be alike or different, R2 represents the backbone and R3h represents a non-fluorinated organic residue end group. Such compositions are produced by reacting a mixture of alcohols, mercaptans or amines containing at least one partially fluorinated compound and at least one non-fluorinated compound in the mixture, thus producing the R1f and the R3h residues, with a difunctional organic compound (e.g., diacid, dinitrile, disulfonyl halide, diisocyanate, diisothiocyanate, diphosphoryl halide or dithiophosphoryl halide).
Abstract:
A lubricant composition is disclosed that is suitable for direct fuel injected, crankcase-scavenged two-stroke cycle engines. That lubricant composition has a major amount of at least one oil of lubricating viscosity, a minor amount of a lubricity additive, a polyalkyl amide, an imidazoline, a polyisobutylene, and a functionalized polyisobutylene. The lubricity additive contains glycerol monooleate, an acid aliphatic aromatic amine-phosphate, and sodium sulfonate. The acid aliphatic aromatic amine-phosphate has a phosphorus/oxygen atom ratio of from 4.0:1 to 4.5:1, and at least 1.2 equivalents of acid to 1.0 equivalents of base.
Abstract:
The present invention provides functional fluid compositions containing a major portion of oil of lubricating viscosity and a novel and synergistic combination of an acylated nitrogen-containing compound having an oil soluble olefinic substituent averaging in carbon number from 8 to 20 and at least one ashless detergent/dispersant.
Abstract:
Disclosed are alkylphenyl poly(oxyalkylene) aminocarbamates having at least one basic nitrogen and an average molecular weight of about 800 to 6,000 and wherein the alkyl group contains at least 40 carbon atoms. Also disclosed are lubricating oil compositions and concentrates containing said alkylphenyl poly(oxyalkylene) aminocarbamates.
Abstract:
