Abstract:
Methods and systems are provided for reducing turbo lag by directing intake air from an intake manifold to an exhaust manifold. The intake air may be directed via an EGR passage by opening an EGR valve or by may be directed via engine cylinders by increasing positive valve overlap. Amounts of air directed via external EGR and air directed via positive valve overlap are based on engine operating conditions.
Abstract:
A DVR controller in network communication with a digital video recorder receives an instruction from a user directing the digital video recorder to perform a function among a set of available functions. The set of available functions comprises a record function operative to cause the digital video recorder to record content and store that content on the digital video recorder, and a playback function operative to cause the digital video recorder to play back content stored on the digital video recorder. Subsequently, at least in part in response to the instructions from the user, the DVR controller issues a command to the digital video recorder to perform the function. The digital video recorder is operative to present content on a presentation device controlled by the user. The DVR controller, in turn, is remotely disposed from the digital video recorder in a facility of a content provider.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to human milk fortifiers comprising high protein content and long chain poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Use of such human milk fortifier improves the body adipose tissue distribution by increasing the subcutaneous adipose tissue mass, while at the same time not increasing visceral adipose tissue.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for hot-fill or cold fill sterilization of a container containing both a liquid and solid inclusions. The method and apparatus each prevent the inclusions from agglomerating in any area of the container, such as the container closure, thus allowing the liquid to contact the interior surfaces of the container for a time sufficient to achieve sterilization of the entire container. The filled container is subjected to an inversion sequence typically including alternating between inverting the container to an angle of about 60 degrees from vertical and an angle of about 140 degrees from vertical, over a time period of at least 30 seconds. The apparatus includes a means for conveying containers, configured to subject the containers to a series of angles as the containers are conveyed, as well as an enclosure for preventing the containers from falling off of the conveying means.
Abstract:
A thermostat is configured for automated compatibility with HVAC systems that are either single-HVAC-transformer systems or dual-HVAC-transformer systems. The compatibility is automated in that a manual jumper installation is not required for adaptation to either single-HVAC-transformer systems or dual-HVAC-transformer systems. The thermostat has a plurality of HVAC wire connectors including a first call relay wire connector, a first power return wire connector, a second call relay wire connector, and a second power return wire connector. The thermostat is configured such that if the first and second external wires have been inserted into the first and second power return wire connectors, respectively, then the first and second power return wire connectors are electrically isolated from each other. Otherwise, the first and second power return wire connectors are electrically shorted together.
Abstract:
A wellbore valve assembly including a valve member which is moveable relative to the valve seat, the valve assembly being receivable in a wellbore tubing having a first end and a second end, the valve member being moveable between an open position relative to the valve seat, and a position in which the valve member is seated against the valve seat, the valve assembly including a valve member biasing device for biasing the valve member towards the open position, the valve member being operable to close in the event of a force which exceeds a predetermined value being applied in either direction relative to the direction in which the valve member biasing device acts.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for enabling protected premises networking capabilities. In one embodiment, a white list of devices authorized to access a premises network and a black list of device not authorized to access a premises network are utilized. The black and white lists may be stored at a database in communication with an authorization manager or may be stored at the manager itself. When a client device is connected to a premise, the manager determines, based on the premises and/or device identity, whether the device is entitled to access. The authorization manager makes this determination based on whether the device is on the white or black list. If the device is on neither list, the manager may add the device to the white list upon appropriate verification. The manager may also facilitate removal of a device from the white list to the black list upon request or automatically.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for allowing users to create objects for a particular area of interest(s) on a social networking system through one or more web-based templates, and allowing such users to share in profits generated from the creation of such objects. A plurality of resource objects are maintained on a social networking system. One or more web-based templates are provided on a communications device of a host or partner for generation of resource objects. The web-based templates allow customization of real-time interface components displayed to end-users. The social networking system provides access of resource objects to end-users through the one or more real-time interface components. The social networking system determines profits generated for the resource objects, and determines the amount payable to the host creating the resource object.
Abstract:
A pad of elastomeric material having a softness of no more than about durometer 50 Shore 00. The pad may carry adhesive and/or a housing for adhering the pad to a surface, either directly or indirectly through an envelope which surrounds the pad and carries the adhesive. Such a pad exhibits hemostatic and leak prevention properties against needle puncture holes in the skin or the wall of a hollow medical device. Particularly, hemostasis may be prevented with low pressure application of the pad to the skin. The pad may be previously applied to the skin of the patient or a wall of a medical device such as tubing or a solution bag, and the needle may then penetrate both the pad and the skin or medical device wall, to make a resealable puncture with leakage reduction and hemostasis when the needle is withdrawn.
