Abstract: A system and method for concealing bandwidth reduction of a VoIP call voice is provided. In a method for dynamic bandwidth extension during a call session between a first transceiver device and a second transceiver device, the first transceiver device compares a bit rate of received packet data with a threshold bit rate, and the first transceiver device determines whether to perform bandwidth extension during the call session based on the comparison. The bit rate is controlled based on a degree of network congestion between the first transceiver device and the second transceiver device.
