摘要: A method and a device for determining a device placement to optimize techniques, such as power management techniques, are described. The method, executed in a processor of a mobile device, comprises gathering data from at least one sensor associated with the mobile device. Based on the data gathered from the sensor, a device placement indicative of at least one of an orientation and a position the mobile device may be determined. Further, details pertaining to the device placement may be integrated with secondary classification data comprising at least one of historical data, device orientation data, and device motion data. Based on the integrated details, it may be inferred whether a user is engaged with the mobile device. When a user is not engaged with the mobile device, a brightness of the display is lowered in at least one stage to optimize power consumption and user experience.

摘要: A method and a system of maintaining data connectivity between a mobile device during traversal of a pedestrian facility and a server computing device via a set of intermediary communication devices. The method, executed in a processor of the server device, comprises while the mobile device is in data connectivity via a first intermediary communication device, receiving an indication that the mobile device is localized to a position between a first and a second intermediary communication devices of the set of intermediary communication devices, based on an inertial sensor device including at least one of a gyroscope, an accelerometer and the magnetometer, determining a directional heading of the mobile device, inferring, based on the directional heading, at least one of an unobstructed line of sight wireless signal transmission path to the second intermediary communication device, and a more obstructed line of sight wireless signal transmission path to the first intermediary communication device, and based on the inferring, maintaining the data connectivity with the mobile device by switching from the first intermediary communication device to the second intermediary communication device.

The method, executed in a processor of a server computing device, comprises receiving, at a memory of the server computing device, a first set of fingerprint data acquired within the area by a plurality of mobile devices, generating, using the processor, a distribution of calibrated data points based at least in part on the first set of fingerprint data, the calibrated data points representing respective positions within the area, receiving, at the memory, a second set of fingerprint data acquired by at least one additional mobile device, processing, using the processor, the second set of fingerprint data and the calibrated data points to generate an updated distribution of calibrated data points, and when the updated distribution exceeds a predetermined threshold density of calibration data points, deploying the updated distribution as the calibrated positioning map of the area.
