摘要: Disclosed is an ultraminiaturized Auto-Locomotive Device (ALD) apparatus with tool actuators and traction, locomotion, and propulsion mechanisms. The ALD is capable of static and dynamic activity, including moving to a target work area or structure, stopping, turning, anchoring, operating ALD actuator tools, auxiliary peripherals, etc., in response to external tactical control commands and/or pre-programmed instructions issued by administrative system(s), and/or “expert system(s)” such as enhanced surgery systems and/or medical robotic systems. The ALD is a specialized version of an Array Element Mesh System (AEMS) adapted for precision control and precision tasks such as in-vitro and in-vivo micromanipulation, microsurgery, transportation of organic and inorganic structures and materials; inter- and intra-cellular navigation, locomotion, and propulsion; surgical procedures and operations; and other very-small tasks. Methods and systems for controlling ALD maneuvers and operational tasks are also disclosed. The present invention is typically used for very-small-geometry, microelectromechanically-executable tasks; cellular-scale surgery; other microscopic techniques; etc.

摘要: A method of forming an electronic device on a substrate 10, comprising: embossing the substrate 10, surface treating the substrate so that unindented portions 11 repel a solution of a first material 60, and depositing a solution of the first material 60 in indentations 12 on the substrate 10 formed by the embossing. The substrate is then annealed so that level of the first material is the same as the surface of the substrate. The first material 60 in the indentations can then, for example, be used as the source and drain in the subsequent formation of a TFT.

摘要: The present invention relates to a self-aligning patterning method which can be used to manufacture a plurality of multi-layer thin film transistors on a substrate. The method comprises firstly forming a patterned mask 20 on the surface of a sacrificial layer 18 which is part of a multi-layer structure 10 which comprises the substrate 12, a conductive layer 14, an insulating layer 16 and the sacrificial layer 18. Unpatterned areas are then etched to remove the corresponding areas of the sacrificial layer, the insulating layer 16 and the conductive layer 14 thereby leaving voids. A layer of dielectric 22 is then deposited over the etched multi-layer structure to at least substantially fill the voids. The deposited dielectric is then etched in order to at least partially expose the sides of the remaining areas 28 of the sacrificial layer. Conductive material 30 is then deposited on the surface of the etched dielectric. Finally, the remaining areas 28 of the sacrificial layer are removed together with any overlying material. The resulting plurality of multi-layer thin film transistors is preferably in the form of an array which may in turn be formed into a display device by coupling each transistor in the array to a light-emitting cell.

摘要: A fluidized bed combustor or gasifier has a combustion chamber(s) with a non-symmetrical horizontal cross section. The chamber may be trapezoidal, hemispherical, or may have five or more side walls of at least two different lengths. The walls of the combustion chamber may be water tube panels. An external pressure vessel surrounds the combustion chamber(s) and associated particle separator(s), and may be spherical or cylindrical.

摘要: A novel implement holder is provided. In particular, the present invention provides a utensil holder that allows for a neat and clean work area without unsightly spills from liquids. The invention is particularly suited to kitchens and coffee shops, where there is a need to collect drippings from spoons and other stirring utensils without inadvertently contaminating the stirring utensil and the subject liquids from contact contamination. The invention also provides for absorbent sheets that can be individually dispensed below a suspended utensil.

摘要: A method for the fluorescent detection of a substance, the method comprising providing particles comprising a metal or a metal oxide core, wherein one or more optionally fluorescently tagged antibodies or human specific peptide nucleic acid (PNA) oligomers for binding to a substance is/are bound, directly or indirectly, to the surface of the metal or metal oxide; contacting a substrate, which may or may not have the substance on its surface, with the particles for a time sufficient to allow the antibody/PNA oligomer to bind with the substance; removing those particles which have not bound to the substrate; if the antibodies or PNA oligomers are not fluorescently tagged, contacting the substrate with one or more fluorophores that selectively bind with the antibody and/or substance, then optionally washing the substrate to remove unbound fluorophores; and illuminating the substrate with appropriate radiation to show the fluorophores on the substrate.
