摘要: A method and apparatus for analyzing and treating internal lumens is provided. The apparatus includes a catheterized device integrating an optical probe and local treatment delivery system. The probe component includes fiber optic lines that can be used in conjunction with visible and/or near infrared spectroscopy to analyze various characteristics of tissues, including chemical, blood, and oxygen content, in order to locate those tissues associated with diseased lumens, to determine the best location for applying treatment, and to monitor treatment and its effects. Physically integrated with the probe component is a treatment component for delivering localized treatments including stem cells, antibiotics, gene therapy, neoplasty, and sclerosant drugs, etc. A control system coordinates operation of the catheter, including performing chemometric analysis with the use of model data, and for providing control and visual feedback to an operator.

摘要: Systems, methods, and apparatus for providing a fluid and reduced-toxicity optical media with optical analysis and therapeutic energy delivery. An aspect of the invention provides an aqueous solution of increased-salinity of between about 1% and 35%. An increasing salinity in accordance with the invention provides improved transmissive efficiency at many wavelengths and less toxicity than many existing systems and methods. A catheter having integrated fibers for probing or treating internal lumens or other tissues can include a liquid-inflatable balloon or flushing mechanism using the solution for displacing blood or other obstructions in an optical path between the fiber and targeted tissue. Methods including spectroscopy can be employed with the solution for diagnosing medical conditions associated with diseased vessels or other tissues while reducing the risk of permanent damage resulting from the diagnosis. Additional applications include the deliver of therapeutic radiation externally and internally to tissues through h the solution media.

摘要: An optical sensor, sensing system and method of sensing employ a half-core hollow optical waveguide adjacent to a surface of an optical waveguide layer of a substrate. The half-core hollow optical waveguide and the adjacent optical waveguide layer cooperatively provide both an optical path that confines and guides an optical signal and an internal hollow channel. The optical path and channel extend longitudinally along a hollow core of the half-core hollow optical waveguide. The system further includes an optical source at an input of the optical path and an optical detector at an output of the optical path. A spectroscopic interaction between an analyte material that is introduced into the channel and an optical signal propagating along the optical path determines a characteristic of the analyte material.

摘要: An electrical driver circuit for a cantilever solenoid valve includes first and second electrical switching devices for converting logical control input signals into respective control outputs. Third and fourth electrical switching devices are controlled as a function of the control output produced by the first switching device. Fifth and sixth electrical switching devices are controlled as a function of the control output produced by the second switching device. A voltage potential difference is created between a first electrically common point, defined between the third and fourth switching devices, and a second electrically common point, defined between the fifth and sixth switching devices, as a function of the logical signals received into the first and second switching devices.
