The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for generating feedback information for transmit power control in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication system. Both a transmitter and a receiver comprise multiple antennae for transmission and reception. The transmitter comprises a power allocation unit for controlling transmit power based on a feedback received from the receiver. The receiver comprises a channel estimator and a singular value decomposition (SVD) unit. The channel estimator generates a channel matrix from a signal received from the transmitter and the SVD unit decomposes the channel matrix into D, U and V matrices. The receiver sends a feedback generated based on output from the SVD unit to the transmitter. The feedback may be one of an eigenvalue, a transmit power level or a power control bit or command. A hybrid scheme for selecting one of them based on channel condition may be implemented.

A plurality of channel combinations is generated for a plurality of wireless transmit receive units (WTRUs). The channel for each WTRU is quantized based on the WTRU codebook. A codebook for beamforming is generated for a plurality of WTRUs. The codebook includes a plurality of beamforming matrices. All possible beamforming matrices may be computed and the codebook may be quantized.

The wireless CDMA communication system includes a transmitter which steganographically embeds digital information in a CDMA communication signal and wirelessly transmits the CDMA communication signal. A method and system for implementing multi-user virtual multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques for wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) having one or more antennas are disclosed. The system includes a base station and at least one WTRU having at least two antennas. The number of antennas of the base station is not less than the number of antennas of any of the WTRUs. The base station generates a channel matrix for the WTRUs and processes received signals from the WTRUs based on a measurement of the channel matrix. The WTRUs may perform transmit precoding or eigen-beamforming using the channel matrix information. The WTRUs may also perform transmit diversity.

A wireless communication apparatus which uses fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver which incorporates a beam space antenna array. The beam space antenna array may be implemented with a Butler matrix array. The beam space antenna array may be a circular array, vertical array, or a combination of both circular and vertical arrays, for providing the desired angular antenna coverage. In one embodiment, the antenna array is optimized because the FFTs are linear invariant transform operators, whereby the order of operations in the OFDM receiver can be interchanged.

A method and apparatus may be used for supporting multiple hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ) processes per transmission time interval (TTI). A transmitter and a receiver may include a plurality of H-ARQ processes. Each H-ARQ process may transmit and receive one TB per TTI. The transmitter may generate a plurality of TBs and assign each TB to a H-ARQ process. The transmitter may send control information for each TB, which may include H-ARQ information associated TBs with the TBs. The transmitter may send the TBs using the associated H-ARQ processes simultaneously per TTI. After receiving the TBs, the receiver may send feedback for each of the H-ARQ processes and associated TBs indicating successful or unsuccessful receipt of each of the TBs to the transmitter. The feedback for multiple TBs may be combined for the simultaneously transmitted H-ARQ processes, (i.e., TBs).
