Abstract:
A holding device (1) for holding a gear (60) stationary relative to an engine block. The device (1) includes a body (2) having a threaded passage extending axially therethrough, a projection (4) extending laterally of the body (2) and adapted to engage a recess (63) between teeth (62) of the gear (60), a hooked portion (3) adapted to (i) extend between the gear (60) and the engine block and (ii) hook behind the teeth (62) of the gear (60), and a jacking screw (5) extending through the threaded passage and rotatable relative to the body (2) such that an end (53) of the jacking screw (5) engages the engine block and moves the hooked portion (3) into firm engagement with the gear (60).
Abstract:
An apparatus for passive contraction of at least one finger of a patient with an upper arm unit, a lower arm unit, and at least one connective line. The apparatus is configured such that elbow extension of the patient promotes finger flexion. This is accomplished by taking advantage of the geometry of the arm, where the distance from a point on the patient's humeral area to the patient's fingers is greater when the patient's arm is in extension than when it is in flexion. In one aspect, the upper arm unit is configured to connect to a portion of the patient's arm between the patient's elbow and shoulder and the lower arm unit is configured to connect to a portion of the patient's arm intermediate the patient's hand and elbow.
Abstract:
There is provided a RFID chip holder device for attachment to an item of portable equipment, the device including: a shell; means for housing a RFID chip disposed within said shell; means for housing a planar insert disposed on an exterior surface of said shell; and means for enabling the holder device to be attached to an item of portable equipment.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a holding device for holding two rotary members relative to one another. The device has two holding members and a connecting member to which the holding members may be clamped by respective clamps. One of the holding members may be selectively positioned along the connecting member and clamped thereto at selected distances from the other holding member.
Abstract:
An article comprising a substrate formed of a silicon-comprising material, such as an article exposed to the hostile thermal environment of a gas turbine engine. The article further comprises an environmental barrier layer, e.g., an alkaline earth metal aluminosilicate, and a physical barrier layer overlying the environmental barrier layer. The physical barrier layer comprises zirconia or hafnia stabilized with an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, scandium, yttrium, and lanthanide metals; and a low CTE oxide selected from the group consisting of niobia and tantala; and mixtures thereof. A method for preparing an environmental barrier coating system on a substrate formed of a silicon-comprising material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
An article comprising a substrate formed of a silicon-comprising material, such as an article exposed to the hostile thermal environment of a gas turbine engine. The article further comprises an environmental barrier layer, e.g., an alkaline earth metal aluminosilicate, and a top coat comprising zirconia or hafnia stabilized with up to about 10 mole % of an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, scandium, yttrium, and lanthanide metals, and mixtures thereof. The article further comprises a transition layer between the environmental barrier layer and the top coat, the transition layer comprising zirconia or hafnia stabilized with up to about 10 mole % of an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of magnesium, calcium, scandium, yttrium, and lanthanide metals; and a low CTE oxide selected from the group consisting of niobia and tantala; and mixtures thereof. A method for preparing a thermal/environmental barrier coating system on a substrate formed of a silicon-comprising material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for efficiently transferring data between a client and a server includes the steps of: providing an application program; providing an application-independent client process effecting a plurality of client states; providing an application-independent server process effecting a plurality of server states; transferring data from the server process to the client process in response to an application program; and updating at least one client state in response to the transferred data. A related apparatus is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for partial updating of client interfaces in a client-server environment. The client updates the corresponding server-side through a middleware “engine.” Individual interface element change requests may be queued. Programmatically defined events may trigger processing of the change request queue on the client, resulting in partial updating of an interface container, such as a Web page or XML document, in the client interface context. Processing may occur on the server, where resultant client update requests are likewise queued. Alternative programmatically defined events may trigger the return of the server change queue to the client. Only those elements of the interface container affected by changes in the queue are updated. This partial updating method replaces the need for refreshing an entire interface, thus affording a more desktop-like look and feel.
Abstract:
An improved guard for a medical cartridge, such as a unit dose pre-filled glass syringe, comprising a body for receiving the cartridge, and a shield slidably attached to the body which are pre-assembled and ready to receive a cartridge therein. The body has a mechanism on a proximal end thereof which holds the cartridge therein. The body and shield have cooperating detents and detent pockets which allow the shield to be directed distally, from an unguarded position in which the needle on the cartridge is uncovered for delivery of medication, to a guarded position in which the needle is permanently covered for disposal. The body may also include a substantially rectangular-shaped finger grip on its proximal end for receiving a similarly shaped proximal flange on the cartridge, whereby the cartridge is received in a predetermined orientation.
