    摘要: A pocket suitable for incorporation in garments, luggage items, personal accessories or the like is provided with an active mechanism and control apparatus to close the pocket. Such closing action may be triggered manually but can also be triggered automatically when the pocket is moved away from an upright orientation or experiences a jolting action. In one embodiment the closing action is performed by a length of shape memory material which contracts when heated to pull the pocket front panel top portion against the rear panel top portion and close the pocket opening.

    摘要: A connector device is provided in the form of a main body component having a lower surface covered with a conductive layer to provide a ground plane and an upper surface carrying a conductive strip portion to form a microstrip line. The combination of the first conductive surface region (ground plane) and second conductive surface region (microstrip line) separated by the main body component dielectric forms a microstrip section. The conductive layer and strip portion are each connected to a conductor of co-axial feed cable. The device is inserted between conductive layers of an antenna of laminar construction, such a as planar inverted F antenna to establish electrical connection between conductors of the feed cable and conduction layers of the antenna. The connector is secured to the antenna by sewing or adhesive. The antenna is normally positioned in a garment.

    摘要: A switch suitable for use in garments is provided. The switch comprises an arrangement of at least two electrically conductive contact portions provided in the form of textile fastener components. The textile fastener components may be stud fastener components mounted on fabric portions and normally separated by resilient biasing means such as compressible foam material. The application of a sufficient force causes the compressible foam material to yield allowing the textile fastener components to contact each other physically and therefore electrically. Removal of the applied force allows the foam material to return to its shape prior to yielding and therefore separate stud fastener components. The switch utilizes components often found in clothing allowing the switch to be incorporated into garments using machinery and workforce skills widespread within the garment manufacturing industry. The fastener components may be replaced with eyelets and a cord arranged to pass through the eyelet through-holes may be pulled to operate the switch.

    摘要: A portable location alarm device is provided which allows a user to pre-set an alarm event to occur when the device arrives at a pre-determined location. The alarm event alerts the user by audible, visual or vibrating means. The alarm device determines its actual location using GPS data. In one embodiment the user bookmarks particular locations while physically present at a given location. Part of the bookmarking process involves the device simultaneously receiving GPS data that describes the physical location. The user can subsequently set an alarm event for any bookmarked location without the need for the device to carry large databases, for example of the type cross-referencing place names to mapping co-ordinates.
