A liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates, a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix and a static memory formed on the substrates. A bit signal corresponding to an image data is written and held in a static memory in the pixel. The polarity of the input bit signal is controlled. A liquid crystal voltage supplied to a liquid crystal layer arranged between the pair of substrates is generated by the bit signal. The polarity of the bit signal is controlled to alternate the liquid crystal voltage, and a transmittance of the liquid crystal layer is changed by supplying the alternated liquid crystal voltage.

The present invention provides a field effect transistor that includes a semiconductor layer (15) containing an organic substance, and a first electrode (16), a second electrode (12), and a third electrode (14) that are not in contact with each other at least electrically. The first electrode (16) is arranged above the semiconductor layer (15), the second electrode (12) is arranged below the semiconductor layer (15), and the third electrode (14) is arranged beside the semiconductor layer (15). The semiconductor layer (15) is connected electrically to two electrodes selected from the first electrode (16), the second electrode (12), and the third electrode (14), and the electrically insulating layers (13,17) are interposed between the electrodes (12, 14, 16). The first electrode (16) lies over the semiconductor layer (15) so as to extend beyond the periphery of the semiconductor layer (15). With this configuration, it becomes possible to provide a field effect transistor that is highly resistant to air and water and thus has a long lifetime even though an organic semiconductor is used therein, and a display device using such a field effect transistor.

The ink-jet recording medium comprises an ink-absorption layer that absorbs the largest amount of ink of all the layers that constitute an ink-receiving layer on at least one surface of the substrate is composed of a material comprising porous pigment, a fixer and a binder, in which the fixer is an amphoteric fixer containing a cationic component that is cationic and an anionic component that is anionic, in which the molar ratio of the cationic component to the anionic component contained in the fixer is in the range between 1:0.01 and 1:0.5, and in which the percentage of the fixer contained in the ink-absorption layer ranges from 1 to 30% by weight of the solid content of the ink-absorption layer. Printed matter obtained by ink-jet printing on the ink-jet recording medium of the present invention has excellent durability, such as long-term image quality, water resistance and heat resistance.
