    摘要: An intercooler comprises a plurality of plastic cooling tubes extending between a first end plate and a second end plate and a baffle arranged in the intercooler and extending at least partially between the first end plate and the second end plate. The baffle comprises a plurality of first openings for receiving a respective plastic cooling tube, the baffle further comprising a plurality of second openings arranged between the first openings. The second openings permit air to flow through the intercooler whilst creating turbulence in the air flow which increase the thermal transfer between the air and the tubes increasing the efficiency of the intercooler.

A connecting member that thermally couples the electronics module to the cooling member also operates to secure the electronics module to the housing in one example embodiment.

    摘要: A vehicle sensor assembly includes a retainer which locks the sensor assembly onto a sensor receipt member of a vehicle gas directing component. The retainer is preferably a cup-shaped member having a base and a wall extending substantially perpendicular from the perimeter thereof. Resilient engagement members extend radially inward from the wall toward the base. To install the sensor assembly, the sensor is pressed onto the sensor receipt member such that the engagement members engage the outer surface of the sensor receipt member. Since the retainer is preferably manufactured of a spring steel or a hard resilient plastic such as nylon, the engagement members attempt to return to their free position thereby locking the sensor assembly onto the sensor receipt member. A method for producing the sensor assembly preferably includes locating the sensor body within an initially cup-shaped retainer having a base and an extended wall. The next series of steps include progressively bending the wall toward a central first axis to substantially surround the sensor body with the retainer.

    摘要: A wiring assembly for a plastic intake manifold mounted to an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a flexible circuit assembly disposed within foam covering the intake manifold. The flexible circuit assembly provides for electrical communication between a controller and a plurality of electrical devices. In one embodiment the electrical devices are integral to the flexible circuit assembly to create a flexible circuit/electrical device assembly forming a single replaceable unit. In another embodiment, multiple flexible circuits are sandwiched between layers of foam, with each flexible circuit separated from the others by layers of foam. Each of the multiple flexible circuits attaches to different types electrical devices or sensors. The invention also provides for a decorative skin disposed over the layers of foam that may include a printed design to eliminate the need for an additional decorative engine cover.

    摘要: A throttle body and bracket assembly permits the joining of the bracket to the throttle body without fasteners by incorporating preselected and complementary geometries on a mating portion of the bracket and on a portion of the throttle body. These mating portions, which may be in the form of a dovetail-type configuration, may be fit together in locking fashion, and the bracket may be further held in place by securing a lip or retainer portion of the bracket between the free ends of the air hose and the throttle body when they are joined. Additionally, a throttle body may be molded to include an idle air by-pass passage having an open, exterior surface that is sealed by the mating portion of the bracket when it is placed in its mated position with the throttle body.

    摘要: A number of fuel injectors are mounted on an elongated carrier that has been inserted endwise into an open end of an elongated hole in a member such as a tube or an engine manifold. Electrical lead wires extend from the fuel injectors along the carrier to a connector on the exterior. The fuel injectors' nozzles are received in sealed manner in holes extending through the wall of said member. A keeper also inserted endwise through the elongated hole in the member keeps the carrier in place. Each injector has a sphere that is resiliently biased by a flat spring blade to close the outlet orifice leading from the frustoconical seat on which the sphere is seated. The spring blade is cantilever-mounted atop a post adjacent the seat. A magnetic circuit encircles the sphere and comprises an armature that acts against the side of the sphere to displace the sphere to eccentricity with the seat for opening the outlet orifice. The elongated hole is filled with pressurized liquid fuel so that the injectors will be immersed in fuel and will inject fuel from their nozzles when their spheres are displaced to eccentricity with their seats.

    摘要: The fuel injector has several swirl passages in a fuel swirl and needle guide member that direct swirl fuel onto the frusto-conical surface of a valve seat member that is disposed at the injector's nozzle end. The needle lift is such that with the needle unseated to open the injector to flow, the swirl fuel is throttled as it passes between the rounded tip end of the open needle and the frusto-conical surface of the seat member. The throttling tends to spread the swirl flow so that it is more uniform in the circumferential sense. If the injector is closed before equilibrium flow occurs, a toroidal shaped fuel cloud is created; if the injector is closed after equilibrium flow occurs, an ellipsoidal shaped fuel cloud is created.

    摘要: A molded fuel rail block for a multiple cylinder engine having a plurality of air conduits connecting the engine's air intake manifold to the individual air intake passageways provided in the cylinder head of the engine. The fuel rail block further has an injector well associated with each air conduit in which the fuel injector valves of the engine are mounted and a pressure regulator well in which a pressure regulator is mounted. A fuel delivery rail is provided in the fuel rail block which is connected to each of the injector wells and to an input of the fuel regulator well. A fuel return rail is provided in the fuel rail block generally parallel to the fuel delivery rail. The fuel return rail is connected to an exit port of the pressure regulator well. In the preferred embodiment, the air conduits, injector wells, pressure regulator well, fuel delivery rail and fuel return rail are molded from a high temperature plastic material having relatively good thermal insulation properties.
