Abstract:
A scrap particle sorting system and attendant sorting process employs a conveyor for conveying the randomly shaped particles in a random orientation, a position sensor for determining the advancement of the scrap particles in the direction of conveyance by determining the position of the conveyor belt, an image detector for periodically recording the image of a predefined viewing area through which the scrap particles are conveyed, and an image processor for periodic acquisition and processing of the images. The image processor includes logic for defining each image of the viewing area into a matrix of cells, and for each acquired image, analyzing the digital data corresponding to the image to determine for each cell in the matrix whether the pixels in that cell satisfy a predetermined criteria, and establishing a discriminator signal for each cell in the matrix as a function of that analysis. The system employs an image detector controller for receiving a signal from the conveyor position sensor and sending an activation signal to the image processor at timed intervals to acquire sequential image frames which include each of the scrap particles as they are conveyed past the viewing area, and a separator controller for receiving the discriminator signals from the image processor and for sending a control signal to selectively activate the appropriate portion of the separator to eject desired from undesired particles.
Abstract:
Systems and methods provide secure and wireless intra-vehicular communication. An intra-vehicular communication system has a secured network segment including a plurality of secure zones on a vehicle, the secure zones each having a plurality of node devices. The system also has a single point of security proximate each secure zone on the vehicle providing communication security for a corresponding secure zone, and a public network segment on the vehicle configured to wirelessly transport data traffic between the secure zones.
Abstract:
The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer readable media for virtual card transfer between near field communications (NFC)-enabled mobile devices. According to one aspect, a method for over-the-air (OTA) virtual card transfer between NFC-enabled mobile devices is disclosed. The method includes receiving, at an OTA provisioning server, a virtual card, from a sending mobile device, that is intended for a receiving mobile device. The virtual card is provisioned, over the air, to the receiving mobile device, where the virtual card is immediately presentable by the receiving mobile device at a point of sale terminal.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for suppressing magnetically active surface defects in superconducting quantum circuits are provided. A method includes providing one or more superconducting quantum circuits, and arranging the one or more superconducting quantum circuits in a hermetic enclosure capable of isolating the one or more superconducting circuits from ambient surroundings. The method also includes controlling an environment in the hermetic enclosure to suppress magnetically active surface defects associated with the one or more superconducting quantum circuits. In some aspects, the method further includes introducing an inert gas into the hermetic enclosure to passivate a surface of the one or more superconducting quantum circuits. In other aspects, the method further includes coating a surface of the one or more superconducting circuits with a non-magnetic encapsulation layer. In yet other aspects, the method further includes irradiating the one or more superconducting circuits using ultraviolet light.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer readable media for updating sequence and acknowledgment numbers associated with replay packets are disclosed. In one example, a method includes generating, at a sending peer node, a replay packet that includes a payload associated with a capture file packet and accessing, in the sending peer node, a sequence-differential (SEQ-DIFF) list using an original sequence number associated with the replay packet. The method further includes traversing entries in the SEQ-DIFF list, wherein each of the entries includes a sequence number and a payload length differential value, applying, for each traversed entry in the SEQ-DIFF list, the payload length differential value to the original sequence number to determine an updated sequence number for the replay packet, and transmitting, from the sending peer node to a receiving peer node, the replay packet that includes the updated sequence number.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer readable media for facilitating the use of wireless smart devices to purchase goods or services that are not available at a purchaser's location are provided. According to one aspect of the subject matter described herein, a method for facilitating the use of a wireless smart device to purchase goods or services is provided. The method includes providing a smart poster that advertises a good or service and is locatable in an area that is accessible by a potential purchaser of a good or service. The method includes directing, using a mechanism in or on the smart poster, the wireless smart device to access a section of an merchant's website specific to the good or service in response to the wireless smart device interfacing with the smart poster. The method further includes providing, via the wireless smart device, an option for the potential purchaser to purchase the good or service in a manner that bypasses a payment register in a retail location of the merchant.
Abstract:
According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a method for secure near field communication (NFC) of a non-secure memory element payload. The method includes receiving, at an NFC enabled mobile device and from a content provider, a payload. The method also includes storing the received payload in a non-secure memory element of the NFC enabled mobile device. The method further includes transferring the stored payload from the non-secure memory element of the NFC enabled mobile device to a secure memory element of the NFC enabled mobile device, wherein transferring the stored payload includes loading the stored payload into a secure reloadable payload instance. The method further includes establishing a NFC link between the NFC enabled mobile device and an NFC reader. The method further includes communicating, via the NFC link, the transferred payload from the secure reloadable payload instance to the NFC reader.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer readable media for selecting and delivering an electronic value certificate to a mobile device are disclosed. According to one aspect, the method includes utilizing a certificate selection device to generate electronic certificate selection information and providing the electronic certificate selection information and associated recipient data to a merchant server.
