Abstract: The invention is directed toward anionic polymerization employing lithio amines mixed with an organic alkali metal compound and optionally, a chelating reagent. The lithio amines have the general formula (A)Li(SOL).sub.y, where SOL is a solubilizing component, A is an alkyl, dialkyl, cycloalkyl or dicycloalkyl amine radical or a cyclic amine, and y is 0 or is from about 0.5 to about 3. The invention is also directed toward polymers and other products made using the initiator, and methods therefor. Further, the invention contemplates a polymer, a polymer composition and products therefrom, which include a functional group from the reaction product of an amine and an organolithium compound. The resulting polymers may be terminated with a terminating, coupling or linking agent, which may provide the polymer with a multifunctionality.

Abstract: A panel distribution system includes a plurality of panel delivery units disposed on a panel conveyance line for forcing out panels in a lateral direction from the conveyance line. The delivery units are all operative to allow the passage of the panels through them except one located closer to a downstream end of the conveyance line. A plurality of loading conveyor units having a two-storied construction composed of a pair of overlapping upper and lower loading conveyors can be disposed on the same side of the conveyance line and held in alignment with the corresponding delivery units. This concentrated high-density arrangement of the loading conveyors can make considerable reductions in floor space of the entire system with a minimum dead space involved. In one preferred form, the panel conveyance line extending from a transfer press and the upper and lower loading conveyors are aligned with each other, so that a further reduction in size of the entire system is possible. Since the panels while being conveyed are not subjected to a directional change and hence free from displacement, the panel loading work can be achieved easily and reliably. According to a panel distribution method of the invention, the storage density of baskets used can be increased by a properly handling procedure provided for a few odd panels.

Abstract: The process for preparing 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane (bisphenol A) by reacting acetone with phenol and decomposing the resultant adduct of bisphenol A and phenol is well known. However, the quality of bisphenol A thus obtained is not always satisfactory. In the process of this invention, the adduct is washed with phenol recovered by decomposing an adduct of bisphenol A and phenol, and then bisphenol A is prepared by decomposing the washed adduct. The bisphenol A prepared by the process of this invention has an extremely high quality and is suitable for the preparation of polycarbonate used for optical parts.

Abstract: This invention provides a process for making image overlay through the steps constituting an electrophotographic process, and also an apparatus adapted for conducting such process. The process, based on an electrophotographic process utilizing a three-layered photosensitive member having an insulating cover layer, comprising exposing the photosensitive member to a first image-forming irradiation to be overlaid substantially simultaneously with or subsequent to a charging on the surface of the insulating layer, then exposing the photosensitive member to a second image-forming irradiation to be overlaid substantially simultaneously with an AC or DC corona discharge given to the photosensitive member, and subsequently giving a uniform exposure to the surface of said photosensitive member thereby obtaining an electrophotographic overlay image of the first and second irradiations.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to process and apparatus for overlaying images making use of steps constituting a known electrophotographic process. The electrophotographic process on which the present overlay process depends is of the type in which a three-layered photosensitive member having an insulating covering layer as the top layer of the member is used. The surface of the insulating layer is charged with an electric charge simultaneously with an imagewise irradiation for a first image to be overlaid or during the time of a photo hysteresis resulted from the first image-forming irradiation being still present in the photoconductive layer of the photosensitive member. Then, AC discharging or charging with an electric charge of opposite polarity to that of the above electric charge is effected. Thereafter, an imagewise irradiation for second image is carried out to obtain an electrophotographically overlaid image from the first and second images.
