Abstract:
A length of sheet material is continuously surface treated, typically modified or coated, by continuously feeding helium gas or a helium gas mixture into a treating chamber while a plasma region is created in the gas under atmospheric pressure, continuously moving a length of sheet material into and out of the chamber through entrance and exit ports to pass through the plasma region, thereby continuously subjecting the sheet at either surface to plasma discharge treatment. The entrance and exit ports are sealed in a less gas tight manner to allow leakage of the helium gas or gas mixture.
Abstract:
A one-piece golf ball or a core of a multi-layered golf ball is formed from a rubber composition containing a base rubber component in the form of a modified rubber which is prepared by introducing an unsaturated carboxylate group into a polybutadiene rubber. The ball is satisfactorily durable and shows good flying performance.
Abstract:
Cross-linking type adhesive compositions comprising (A) polymers having .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylate groups, (B) materials having polymerizable vinyl groups, which contain an acrylic and/or methacrylic acid, (C) thermoplastic resins and (D) catalysts of organic peroxides and/or photosensitizers. The adhesive compositions have good adhesive properties together with an excellent heat aging resistance, and can be applied for adhesion to organic and inorganic substrates.
Abstract:
An ion exchanger is produced by reacting a substance containing carbon-to-carbon unsaturated double bond with a solution of iodine isocyanate in an organic solvent and then reacting the resulting isocyanate group added to said substance with a compound having the following formula(X).sub.n R(Y).sub.m or XYwherein X represents an addition active group to the isocyanate group, Y represents an ion-exchanging group or a chelating group, R represents an organic radical having any valence of from 2 to 6 and a molecular weight of 20 to 1000, and n and m are selected from integers of 1 to 5, respectively, provided that a sum of n and m is equal to the valence of R, to introduce the ion-exchanging group having ion-exchanging properties into said substance.
Abstract:
Plates, sheets, fibers and other articles can be rendered water repellent by subjecting the articles at their surface to a glow discharge plasma under atmospheric pressure. The treating gas is a mixture of an inert gas and a fluorinated compound in the form of a cyclic or unsaturated hydrocarbon having some or all of the hydrogen atoms thereof replaced by halogen groups including fluorine atoms. The surface treatment lowers the surface energy of the articles in a long lasting manner.
Abstract:
An anaerobic adhesive composition comprises a polymer having a polymerizable side chain and a molecular weight of at least 500, an organic acid having a vinyl or methacryl group and polymerizable with said polymer, a polymerization catalyst, and preferably, a vinyl monomer. The composition is used for bonding various adherends such as metals, plastics, FRP, glass, etc. and provides improved bond strength, water resistance, heat resistance, and fatigue resistance.
Abstract:
A sound damping material is disclosed, which is a composite structural body comprising honeycomb or corrugated core, plain sheet and pressure sensitive adhesive layer, a height direction of the honeycomb or corrugated core being perpendicular to a surface of a vibrating body. In this sound damping material, one pressure sensitive adhesive layer is at least existent between the honeycomb or corrugated cores or between the honeycomb or corrugated core and the plain sheet.
Abstract:
A vulcanized rubber composition containing at least 30% by weight, based on the amount of the rubber component, of syndiotactic-1,2-polybutadiene has a high adhesion, and can be easily and firmly adhered to another vulcanized rubber composition or to a porous material through a syndiotactic-1,2-polybutadiene thin film by a hot-melt adhesion process.
Abstract:
A rubbery composite material comprising a substrate and a rubber composition bonded thereto is prepared by metallizing a substrate with a thin film of zinc, copper, cobalt or an alloy thereof by dry plating such as vacuum deposition, ion plating, DC magnetron sputtering, bipolar sputtering, and RF sputtering processes, and pressing a vulcanizable rubber composition to the metallized substrate under heat and pressure to effect vulcanization bonding.
Abstract:
A rubber hose comprising an inner tube of synthetic resin, an optional undercoat of a metal or metal compound dry plated on the inner tube, a metal thin film sputtered or ion plated on the inner tube or undercoat from zinc, copper, cobalt, titanium, or an alloy thereof, and a rubber layer on the metal thin film exhibits low gas and solvent permeability while maintaining flexibility. Also provided is a low permeable rubber hose comprising an inner tube of synthetic resin, a thin film of a metal or metal compound dry plated on the inner tube, and a rubber layer heat cured to the thin film through an adhesive.
