Abstract:
Articles comprising multiple layers are included. The multiple layer articles may include fabrics or foams in combination with a polyurethaneurea composition such as a film or an aqueous dispersion.
Abstract:
Stretch woven fabrics including plain, twill and satin constructions are disclosed. The fabrics include weft yarns and warp yarns. Polyester bicomponent continuous filaments including poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(trimethylene terephthalate) having an after-heat-set crimp contraction value from about 20% to about 80% contribute to the stretch recovery properties.
Abstract:
Catalytic process for hydrogenating a dinitrile to produce both aminocapronitrile and hexamethylenediamine in which the dinitrile is contacted with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst and a modifier selected from the group consisting of quaternary ammonium hydroxides, cyanides, fluorides and thiocyanides; quaternary phosphonium hydroxide; carbon monoxide; and hydrogen cyanide.
Abstract:
The invention provides a method for knitting fabric with bare spandex comprising: providing bare spandex yarn; providing hard yarn; drafting the bare spandex; knitting fabric from the hard yarn and the drafted bare spandex with the hard yarn and the drafted bare spandex plated in every course; and contacting the knit fabric with a continuous phase aqueous solution under conditions of temperature and pressure for a time sufficient to set the bare spandex without heating the knit fabric on a tenter frame above 160° C. in air having a relative humidity of less than 50%. The invention further provides a bare spandex-containing knit fabric containing spandex in every knit course that has been exposed to manufacturing process temperature no higher than 160° C. as shown by molecular weight analysis of the spandex and that exhibits wash shrinkage of less than about 14%.
Abstract:
A multi-layer composite sheet comprising a shrinkable layer intermittently bonded a to a gatherable layer with the bonds separated by a specified distance and wherein the shrinkable layer can shrink and at the same time gather the gatherable layer between the bonds. A process for preparing multi-layer composite sheets by intermittently bonding a shrinkable layer to a gatherable layer with the bonds separated by a specified distance and causing the shrinkable layer to shrink while at the same time gathering the gatherable layer between the bonds. Preferably, the shrinkable layer comprises an array of fibers or nonwoven web comprising fibers having latent spiral crimp.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a polymer additive composition and solution of the additive having more than about 5 w % solubility in a mixture of water and water soluble organic compounds comprising: a substantially water insoluble polymer additive capable of forming a salt, the polymer additive having less than about 1 w % water solubility, and a counterpart salt forming species. A process for using these polymer additive compositions and solutions is disclosed wherein the additive or the additive solution is added prior to or optionally during or optional after a polymerisation process to form polyamides or polyesters.
Abstract:
The present invention is based on the discovery that in order for polyester fibers to be used in a polyester/glass mat, which will have superior tear properties after being coated with bitumen, they need to have a single filament toughness of greater than about 140. Toughness being defined as the product of tenacity (in units of cN/tex) and the cube root of the breaking elongation (as a % of elongation). Specifically, the mat has polyester and glass fibers bound together with a binder, and the bound fibers are coated with asphalt. The invention also describes a process by which the web is dried and cured into a mat at a temperature of greater than about 200° C. The polyester is at least about 5 wt. % of the fibers in the coated mat.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods for making polyamide filaments, such as nylon 6,6, having high tensile strength. The invention also relates to yarns and other articles formed from such filaments. The invention is particularly useful for providing a filament yarn with tenacity equal or superior to the prior art at high spinning process speeds while retaining the ability to draw the yarn. The invention further relates to providing a filament yarn extruded from a delustered or pigmented polyamide polymer.
Abstract:
A method and system that facilitates the size selection for garments such as hosiery or pantyhose with the aim to improve comfort and fit for the wearer is provided.
Abstract:
Included are elastomeric fibers and method for preparing such fibers, which include a bio-derived butanediol. The bio-derived butanediol is used to prepare a polymeric glycol composition, which is contacted with a diisocyanate and spun to provide an elastomeric fiber.
