A method for producing an edible coating is also described, as well as a method for coating foodstuffs. The present invention discloses dry psyllium husk incorporated dough products and method of preparation thereof. Upto 14% unpowdered psyllium husk-300 mesh sized psyllium husk powder (having 95% to 99.99% purity) of total amount flour is used for the preparation of dough products. Also 4.5 gm+20% water per 1 gm of psyllium is the right quantity of additional water to bind the dough having psyllium. The psyllium husk can be either whole, fragmented, slitted, normal, bleached, snow white or processed source of psyllium husk powder.

The first component of the induced viscosity fiber system is soluble fiber. The second component of the induced viscosity fiber system is water-insoluble, acid-soluble multivalent cations. The third component of the induced viscosity fiber system in lightly hydrolyzed starch. The fiber system will typically be incorporated into a meal replacement nutritional. The present invention also refers to a method of delivering soluble fiber to diabetics and to persons needing to lose weight. There is also provided a semi-finished product comprising a closed container that contains thermo-reversible sheared gel, which sheared gel is based on non-starch polysaccharide gelling agent and comprises at least 1 wt % globular protein, which container is provided with instructions to the user to heat the sheared gel to a temperature of 60-95° C. and allow the gel to set.
