    摘要: A vascular entry confirmation mechanism that produces a signal when a cannula and/or catheter is properly placed in a blood vessel is described herein. Generally, the confirmation mechanism comprises a cannula (such as a venapuncture needle), a signaling element, a power source, electrical components to electrically connect the signaling element to the power source, and a switching mechanism, which is configured to close a circuit between the signaling element and power source when a fluid (e.g., blood), flows into the cannula. Accordingly, the confirmation mechanism is configured to produce a signal (e.g., an audible or a visual signal) when a patient's vasculature is punctured.

    摘要: A closed blood sampling system within a pressure monitoring line having a control valve that enables a clearance reservoir to be isolated from the pressure column when no samples are being taken. The valve is a stopcock-like device that includes a rotating valve member and attached control handle with clear visible and tactile indicators for the mode of operation. The rotating valve member has a number of internal and circumferential channels for connecting or disconnecting select ports in the core of the valve. By isolating the clearance reservoir, the quality of the pressure signal is improved such that the sampling line can be lengthened for greater convenience in the intensive care or operating room. The valve may also incorporate a blunt cannula sampling site therewithin.

    摘要: An intravenous catheter introducing device includes a needle hub inserted into and axially slidable relative to an inner barrel wall surface of a barrel. The needle hub holds a needle cannula and permits the cannula to extend forwardly of the barrel for ready use. A catheter connection assembly is detachably sleeved on a front smaller-diameter wall portion of the barrel and permits a tip end of the needle cannula to project forwardly of a tubular cannula of the assembly. A releasably retaining member includes a retaining hole formed in a rear larger-diameter wall portion of the barrel, and a radially extending engaging peg engageable in the hole. Operation of an actuator mounted on the peg can disengage the peg from the hole so as to permit axial movement of the needle hub for drawing the needle cannula within the barrel.

    摘要: A cannula retractable medical collection device includes a cannula mount inserted into and axially slidable relative to a rear larger-diameter wall portion of a barrel, a double-ended needle cannula including a rear needle segment extending into an accommodation chamber in the cannula mount for pricking a stopper of a collection vial, and a front needle segment secured to the cannula mount by a needle hub. The front needle segment extends outwardly of the barrel in a position of use, and retreats inwardly and rearwardly of the barrel in a disposal position when the cannula mount is in the front and rear positions, respectively. A releasably retaining member includes a retaining hole formed in the larger-diameter wall portion, and a radially extending engaging peg engageable in the hole. An actuator is operable to disengage the peg from the hole so as to permit axial movement of the cannula mount.
