    摘要： An apparatus for forming a handle on a plastic bag while at the same time sealing the mouth of the plastic bag. The apparatus includes a housing having an opening into which the bag is inserted. A reciprocating heating means is provided for producing a pair of laterally extending, spaced parallel heat seals. Second heating means is provided for cutting an opening between the spaced parallel heat seals. The cutting heating means also seals the plies of the plastic bag at the point where cutting takes place.The apparatus and method of this invention also form a novel plastic bag, which comprises a front wall, a rear wall and a sealed bottom. A purchased commodity is placed in the bag and the opened top of the bag is closed by the spaced laterally extending parallel heat seals. An opening is formed between the spaced parallel heat seals, and a hand can be inserted in this opening for carrying the bag. The edge of the opening comprises a continuous heat sealed bead formed from the front and rear walls.

    摘要： Apparatus for forming bags of desired length from flattened plastic tubular stock material and subsequently sealing them at the open end thereof. The apparatus includes housing means having supporting means within the housing means for rotatably mounting a supply roll of the flattened stock material, with guide means in vertically spaced relationship to the supporting means cooperating with advancing means including a pair of rollers for engagement with the stock within the housing means in vertically spaced apart relationship to said guide means. Base means and heat sealing means form a pair of transversely extending seals. Dual cutting means cuts the bag to any desired length and a vertical slot between the seams is formed as a pouch for inserting a label to identify the contents. The apparatus also includes means to seal the open end of the bag with the contents therein.

    摘要： A packaging device for closing containers formed of heat sealable flexible plastic is mounted in a housing having a base portion with a compartment therein which is closed by a cover member having an elongated opening therein and a lid is hingedly mounted on the housing and movable between a position overlying the cover member and a position spaced from the cover member. A material engaging member is positioned within the compartment and is selectively movable between a position having an edge of a first portion aligned with the opening in the cover member and a position having a surface of a second portion aligned with the opening in the cover member and a press member mounted on the lid and movable to a position in overlying relation with the material engaging member to effect engagement of material to be heat sealed with the material engaging member which is heated to a selected temperature. The edge of the first portion of the material engaging member is effective to heat seal the container and cut the plastic adjacent the heat sealed portion.
