Abstract: An adhesive dispensing sheet including a plurality of pressure sensitive adhesive segments disposed on a carrier material is disclosed. The adhesive segments are separated from one another on the carrier material by perforations. The perforated adhesive dispensing sheet permits a single adhesive segment to be carefully torn away from and thereby detached from the remaining adhesive segments on the adhesive carrier sheet to allow for easy placement of a single adhesive segment. Thus, the pressure-sensitive adhesives may thereby be dispensed onto any item in exactly the proper location without damaging the adhesive segment or the remainder of the adhesive dispensing sheet.

Abstract: A polymeric film having a plurality of perforations, which are specially structured and arranged is described. The polymeric film provides a strong, high-tensile strength material that permits hand tearing of the film along a desired tear path, providing a controlled tear propagation line. The polymeric film may also be incorporated into a multi-layer film having cloth-like properties of strength and tear propagation, and is suitable for use various adhesive tape applications. Methods of making the polymeric film are also disclosed.

Abstract: This invention is a sticky tape tearing mechanism, involving mainly a tape-tearing unit in the exterior shape of a rectangle, square or band, composed of such break-resistant materials as paper, fabric, metal foil or plastic film, which are laminated by hot melting or glue adhesion process, to be installed on a sticky tape at appropriate intervals. At least on one transverse side of the tape-tearing unit is a V-shaped cut, serrated dents or spaced holes. Several tape-tearing units are adhered at specified intervals on a coil of sticky tape, so that when the sticky tape is used to seal a box unit or any other package, the user can use his fingers to pick up the tape-tearing unit, or tear the sticky tape at the V-shaped cut, serrated dents or spaced holes, to facilitate sticky tape tearing process.

Abstract: An improved multi-layered adhesive label suitable for processing through a laser printer includes a substantially tear resistant layer with a liquid topcoating that dries into a printable layer, permanently adhered to one side of the tear resistant layer. An adhesive layer is permanently adhered to the other side of the tear resistant layer. The label can comprise two discrete portions. Each label portion can have a permanent adhesive layer or a non-permanent adhesive layer. Thus, one label portion can be removably adhered to a receiving surface while the other portion is permanently adhered to the same receiving surface.

Abstract: A venting tape for use in venting an enclosed article space to be filled with an injected expandable foam material. The venting tape includes a polymeric film having a plurality of minute perforations formed therethrough. The perforations are sized to allow the passage of a gas therethrough yet prevent the passage of expandable foam insulation. The venting tape further includes an adhesive layer on one side of the film in a pattern enabling a substantial portion of the minute perforations to remain uncovered by the adhesive layer.

Abstract: Ink-imprintable release coating compositions are described which comprise a polymer comprising a polyurethane, a fluoroacrylate polymer or copolymer, or an addition cured or a condensation cured silicone polymer containing dispersed and/or emulsified resin particles, resin particle domains, or both, and, optionally, inorganic particles. The resin particles comprise resins which are different from the polymers and the resins comprise polyurethanes, polyamides, and polyureas. Ink-imprintable label, tape and stamp constructions also are described which comprise a plurality of contiguous labels, tapes or stamps in a roll or stacked sheet configuration without an independent release liner wherein the labels, tapes and stamps have a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back surface and a cured ink-imprintable release coating on the face surface.

Abstract: The joint between two drywall panels is taped with a paper tape which is backed with a pressure sensitive adhesive. After burnishing the applied tape with a metal or other stiff blade, a water-soaked sponge is moved along the burnished tape to soak the outwardly facing paper surface. The drywall mud is then applied to the wetted paper tape to bridge the joint between the panels without raised or protruding portions of the paper tape, thereby presenting a more continuous and aesthetically satisfying bridge between the panels.

Abstract: An oriented polymeric in-mold label film comprises a hot-stretched, annealed, linerless self-wound film lamina and has a face layer for printing and a base layer which includes a heat-activatable adhesive. The heat-shrinkability of the film is balanced thickness-wise to minimize curl and allow the film to be printed in conventional label-printing presses. An antistat may be included only in the charge for the base layer which includes the heat-activatable adhesive. In the manufacture of labelled blow-molded containers, sheets and labels formed from the film may be handled at high speeds while maintaining accurate registration and dimensional and positional integrity even in the absence of any reinforcing backing, yet the labels perform well on deformable containers such as shampoo bottles.
