摘要: A multi-faceted family of non-woven webs that can take the form of a filter media, an adaptable forming process and a machine capable of making the range of media are disclosed. The filter medium can have a first surface and a second surface defining a thickness. The medium can comprise a region having a gradient. Such a gradient is formed by having a medium wherein the concentration of a fiber, a property or other component varies from one surface to the next surface. The gradient region of the media can comprise the entire thickness of the medium or can comprise a region that comprises a portion of the media thickness. The media are characterized by the presence of a continuous change of the fiber concentration or property within the region. A non-woven web can also be made comprising a planar fiber structure having a gradient. Such a web can comprise fibers having diameters that can range from 1 to 40 microns and a second fiber having a diameter that can range from 0.5 microns to about 5 microns. The gradient can change in the cross machine (x-dimension) or across the thickness (z-dimension) increasing or decreasing in either direction. The media of the invention can be used in a variety of applications for the purpose of removing particulates from a variety of gas use on liquid media. Further, the filtered medium of the invention used in a variety of filter element types including flat media, pleated media, flat panel filters, cylindrical spin-on filters, z media pleated filters and other embodiments wherein the gradient provides useful properties. Methods or processes or an apparatuses for forming a nonwoven medium comprising controllable characteristic within the medium are disclosed. The term medium (plural media) refers to a web made of fiber having variable or controlled structure and physical properties.

摘要: A method of producing a low-dust, fire retardant cellulose fiber material useful in producing insulation and other such products is provided. A liquid, comprising a solvent and at least one fire-retarding material soluble in that solvent, is applied to a cellulose source material, and the liquid is allowed to permeate into the cellulose source material. The liquid permeated material is dried to remove the solvent while the fire-retardant material remains in the cellulose source material. The dried fire-retardant cellulose source material is reduced in size and then de-dusted to produce a low to no dust, fire-retardant cellulose fiber material that has functionally equivalent fire-retardant properties as the dried fire-retardant cellulose source material before de-dusting.

摘要: An absorbent adapted to be used in a spray can charged with a liquefied gas, which exhibits excellent absorbing performance and excellent liquid retention. The absorbent is composed of an assembly of pulverized cellulose fibers that includes at least 45 mass % of fine cellulose fibers having a fiber length of 0.35 mm or less. The absorbent is formed into a sheet-shaped or a columnar configuration, or a surface sheet is laminated on a surface of the absorbent. The absorbent composed of 70 through 90 mass % of cellulose fibers that include 45 mass % or more of fine cellulose fibers having a fiber length of 0.35 mm or less, and 5 through 30 mass % of a fusion-bondable resin exhibits good formability.
