    摘要: A self-igniting internal combustion engine includes at least one cylinder and a piston, which can be moved back and forth in the cylinder and which bounds a combustion chamber together with the cylinder and which has a piston recess facing the combustion chamber, said piston recess having flow cross-sections that vary in a circumferential direction of the cylinder and of the piston, and comprising an injector arranged centrally above the piston recess for injecting fuel into the piston recess, wherein the injector has a plurality of injection openings. In order to reduce the emissions and in particular the soot emissions of the internal combustion engine, at least some of the injection openings have different opening cross-sections, wherein the injection openings having the different opening cross-sections are directed at areas of the combustion chamber recess having different flow cross-sections.

    摘要: An internal-combustion engine includes a cylinder, a piston, a spark plug, and a fuel injection device. The piston includes a top surface, a guiding protrusion, and a cavity. The cavity is provided at a position closer to the fuel injection device than the guiding protrusion when viewed from above the top surface of the piston. The guiding protrusion includes a guiding surface to guide the fuel mist toward the spark plug when the fuel mist is injected from the fuel injection device at a first predetermined timing in a compression stroke. The cavity includes a guiding wall portion to guide the fuel mist toward the spark plug when the fuel mist is injected from the fuel injection device at a timing in the compression stroke between the first predetermined timing and a second predetermined timing.

    摘要: A genset system that includes a genset assembly, an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system and an alcohol sensor and a method of controlling air-to-fuel ratio using the genset system are described. The genset assembly includes a genset engine that (1) is capable of running on at least one of gasoline and alcohol, (2) is an air-cooled engine, and (3) operates at a rich air-to-fuel ratio (AFR). The EFI system includes an electronic control unit that is configured to determine a requested AFR based on the data from the alcohol sensor and the data from the air flow sensor, and based on the determined requested relative AFR, the electronic control unit is configured to actuate the fuel injector such that the fuel in an amount sufficient for obtaining an air/fuel mixture that is at the determined requested relative AFR is injected into the intake system.

    摘要: Constant pressure internal combustion engine having compression and expansion chambers of variable volume, an elongated combustion chamber of substantially constant volume between the compression and expansion chambers, and a fuel inlet for introducing fuel into the combustion chamber where it mixes with compressed air from the compression chamber to form a mixture of fuel and air that burns as it travels through the combustion chamber. In some embodiments, the combustion chamber is folded back upon itself and has a rough, twisting interior side wall, with long, sharp protrusions extending inwardly therefrom and forming hot spots which help to provide complete combustion of the fuel mixture throughout the combustion chamber. These protrusions, together with flow turbulators within the chamber, promote complete mixing and, hence, combustion of the fuel and air in the combustion chamber.

    摘要: In a diesel engine control device, a normal injection mode that implements normal combustion and a premixed injection mode that implements premixed combustion are set, the normal injection mode is implemented when the actual engine operating conditions are in the normal region, and the premixed injection mode is implemented when the actual engine operating conditions are in the premixed region. When one control mode is being implemented in the corresponding engine operating region, the control mode is forcibly switched to the other control mode when the engine enters a predetermined transition state. This makes it possible to switch earlier than normal, and in particular when accelerating, the desired acceleration performance can be obtained.

    摘要: Internal combustion engine and method with compression and expansion chambers of variable volume, a combustion chamber, a variable intake valve for controlling air intake to the compression chamber, a variable outlet valve for controlling communication between the compression chamber and the combustion chamber, means for introducing fuel into the combustion chamber to form a mixture of fuel and air which burns and expands in the combustion chamber, a variable inlet valve for controlling communication between the combustion chamber and the expansion chamber, a variable exhaust valve for controlling exhaust flow from the expansion chamber, means for monitoring temperature and pressure conditions, and a computer responsive to the temperature and pressure conditions for controlling opening and closing of the valves and introduction of fuel into to the combustion chamber to optimize engine efficiency over a wide range of engine load conditions. The relative volumes of the compression and expansion chambers and the timing of the valves are such that the pressure in the combustion chamber remains substantially constant throughout the operating cycle of the engine, and exhaust pressures are very close to atmospheric pressure regardless of the load on the engine. The engine runs so quietly and burns so cleanly that in some applications it may not require a muffler and/or a catalytic converter.
