    摘要: An outboard motor includes an engine and an exhaust pipe. The engine has a crank case, a cylinder body, and a cylinder head aligned along the front-rear direction of the outboard motor, and arranged to support a crankshaft so as to extend along an up-down direction. The exhaust pipe is arranged to lead an exhaust gas of the engine to a main exhaust passage positioned below the engine. The cylinder head has an exhaust gas outlet opened in the side portion on one side of the cylinder head in the left-right direction of the outboard motor. The exhaust pipe has a bypass exhaust pipe which, in a plan view, extends from the exhaust gas outlet, bypasses the engine along the crank case, and reaches the other side in the left-right direction of the engine.

    摘要: A valve operating system that includes a drive shaft, a drive lever that is fixedly provided thereon and can pivot in a direction of movement of a valve body, a follower arm that is fixedly provided on the valve body, a link, a first connecting shaft that connects one end of the link and the drive lever, and a second connecting shaft that connects the other end of the link and the follower arm; in response to a movement of the valve body from a first position to a second position by pivoting of the drive lever, a center of the first connecting shaft approaches from one side a straight line connecting two centers of the drive shaft and the second connecting shaft, and after the valve body reaches the second position, further pivoting of the drive lever is carried out through a predetermined angle so that the center of the first connecting shaft moves to the other side of a dead point on the straight line. Thereby a valve body can be held at one position with hardly any dependence on the output of an actuator, thus greatly reducing the load on the actuator.

    摘要: A vehicle, such as a motorcycle, includes an engine having at least one intake port. An air intake assembly introduces air into the intake port. In one arrangement, the air intake assembly includes a stationary funnel and a movable funnel positioned on the inlet side of the fixed funnel and selectively cooperates with the stationary funnel to deliver air to the intake port of the engine. A seal member creates at least a substantial seal between the fixed funnel and the movable funnel when the funnels are in cooperation with one another. A retention mechanism inhibits the seal member from disengaging with the funnel onto which the seal member is positioned. In one arrangement, the movable funnel is formed with one or more projections and the seal member is formed with one or more recesses that accommodate the projections. The projection may be a flange or a boss, among other possibilities, and the recess is configured to accommodate the specific projection.

A first suction line (5) is extended from an input orifice (7) which enters the first manifold (1) to an output orifice (9) which connects the first suction line (5) to the suction line of a cylinder head of the internal combustion engine. The inventive device also comprises a second suction line (11) and a second manifold (13) provided with a second slot (15) which are orientable and interconnectable. When the second suction line is in the first pivoting position, intake air passes through the first slot (3) to the first manifold (1) and afterwards, flows to the first suction line (5). When the second suction line is in a second pivoting position, the first and second slots (3, 15) are hermetically connected to each other in such a way that intake air passes through the first slot (3) and directly through the second slot (15) in order to enter the second manifold (13) and afterwards, to flow to the first suction line (5) crossing the second suction line (11).

    摘要: An intake system for an internal combustion engine includes a variable length intake tract having a moveable intake pipe which selectively abuts a fixed intake pipe. During high speed operation, the moveable intake pipe is separated from the fixed intake pipe to provide a relatively short intake pipe length while in low speed operation, the moveable intake pipe abuts the fixed intake pipe so that a longer intake tract is formed. The influence of positive pressure waves on the air/fuel ratio during low speed operation is reduced by air flow resistance control means which increases the resistance of the intake system during low speed operation. This may be accomplished by use of an induction housing having a high speed chamber receiving the outlet of the fixed intake pipe and a low speed chamber receiving the outlet of the intake system when in the low speed intake mode, the low speed chamber having an intake opening having a higher air flow resistance than that of the opening of the high speed chamber. The intake system when used in a multi-cylinder engine may drive the moveable intake pipes of differing cylinders so that the transient shifting of the moveable intake pipe between the low speed mode and the high speed mode occurs at slightly different times for differing cylinders reducing the power droppage at any instant in time for the overall engine.
