    Abstract: In at least some embodiments, the present invention relates to an air cleaner having a housing portion, and a low profile rain cover having an opening on an underside of the cover to allow unfiltered air to enter into the air cleaner. Also, in at least some embodiments, the present invention relates to an air cleaner including a housing and an additional component by which the air cleaner is capable of being directly coupled to a carburetor inlet. In some such embodiments, one or more protrusions can be provided within a channel formed by the housing/additional component to influence air flow. Further, in at least some embodiments, the present invention relates to an air cleaner having a shaped wall formed on a housing portion, where the shaped wall includes both an interior surface and an exterior surface by which air flowing within the air cleaner is imparted with helical motion.

    Abstract: An air cleaner is provided in an all terrain vehicle in order to improve the control performance for effecting optimal combustion in an engine by accurately measuring the temperature of air introduced into the engine. The air cleaner includes an air cleaner case disposed behind an engine, a throttle valve disposed between the engine and the air cleaner case, and connecting tube for connecting the air cleaner case and the throttle valve with each other. A temperature sensor is disposed in either a front or rear face of the air cleaner case. Optionally, the temperature sensor is disposed in the connecting tube.

The choice of an automotive vehicle as a transportation means in mining, plantation, and forestry entails a special tactics in order to minimize the operational, maintenance and replacement cost of the air filter used in its internal combustion engines, especially the air filter whose entire parts should be replaced when its clogged filtering medium (7) is replaced. The air filter presently invented is a knocked-down air filter, i.e., an air filter whose part that should be replaced is its filtering medium (7) and inner mesh (6) only which are bound together by lower rubber (5) and upper rubber (8). Its other parts such as lower housing (1), upper housing (9), perforated plate (3) and reinforcing pile (4) are not necessarily replaced. A manually opened and closed locker (11) unite this knocked-down air filter as a single unit.

    Abstract: An air cleaner includes a slide retention structure which engages a sliding resonator volume. The volume slides along the slide retention structure into an assembled position. Once assembled, a tuning tube engages an aperture in the volume, the volume and the resonator assembly reducing noise produced by the engine. A flexible seal is positioned around the aperture to acoustically seal the resonator volume to the tuning tube. An air cleaner cover is secured to the box by a lock plate. To lock the cover to the box, the lock plate is slid so that a plurality of wedges on the plate are forced under hooks on the box, securing the cover to the box. A side opening located proximate to the wedges allow the lock plate to slide so that the hooks do not hinder the movement of the lock plate.
