    摘要: In some embodiments, a receptacle for storing one or more products discarded by a consumer includes a side wall defining a receptacle opening for receiving a product, a closed bottom end, and an interior cavity configured to retain the product. The receptacle may include a product detecting sensor configured to detect the product proximate the receptacle opening, a product weight sensor configured to detect a weight of the product retained in the interior cavity, and a control unit in communication with the product detecting sensor and the product weight sensor. The control unit may be configured to obtain sensor data from the product detecting sensor and the product weight sensor, identify the product based on the obtained sensor data, and add the identified product to a shopping list of the consumer. Methods of adding a product discarded by a consumer to a shopping list of the consumer are also described.

    摘要: A control circuit automatically determines a number of unloaders to task with unloading a cargo container at a cargo-container unloading area as a function of (1) the weight of the cargo container including the plurality of physically-discrete shipping containers loaded therein and (2) how many of the physically-discrete shipping containers are loaded in the cargo container. By one approach this comprises calculating a ratio of the weight with respect to the number of physically-discrete shipping containers and correlating that ratio with a human-resource metric. By one approach the number representing how many physically-discrete shipping containers are loaded in a given cargo container is derived from a bill of lading and/or an advanced shipping notice as may correspond to a given shipment. The weight metric, in turn, can be provided by a scale. By one approach the scale is proximal to the cargo-container unloading area.

    摘要: A combination measuring device for measuring the weight and a further body parameter of a subject includes a weighing scale, a measuring apparatus for the further body parameter, and a data acquisition and processing unit to control the measuring process of the scale and measuring apparatus. The device acquires from the scale measuring signals representing a weight as a function of time over a measuring period, processes the signals, and outputs measurement results. The data acquisition and processing unit determines a weight measuring result from the measuring signals of the scale; monitors over the measuring period a deviation of the measuring signals from the weight measuring result; and, in case the deviation exceeds a predetermined first threshold value, generates a suspicion message indicative of possible movement of the subject. The suspicion message is used in an examination of the reliability of the measuring result for the further body parameter.

    摘要: A system for estimating a payload includes a torque sensor, a grade detector, and a machine acceleration sensor. A controller compares the angle of inclination to its threshold, compares the rate of change in the angle of inclination to its threshold, and compares the machine acceleration to its threshold. An estimate of the payload is determined based upon the output torque from the prime mover, the angle of inclination of the machine, and the unloaded mass but only if the angle of inclination of the machine is greater than the angle of inclination threshold, the rate of change in the angle of inclination is less than the inclination rate of change threshold, and the machine acceleration is less than the acceleration threshold.
