Abstract:
A connector arrangement includes a plug nose body; a printed circuit board positioned within a cavity of the plug nose body; and a plug cover that mounts to the plug nose body to enclose the printed circuit board within the cavity. The printed circuit board includes a storage device configured to store information pertaining to the electrical segment of communications media. The plug cover defines a plurality of slotted openings through which the second contacts are exposed. A connector assembly includes a jack module and a media reading interface configured to receive the plug. A patch panel includes multiple jack modules and multiple media reading interfaces.
Abstract:
A connector arrangement includes a single-piece plug nose body defining a cavity in which a storage device is held. The storage device provides physical layer information (PLI) functionality as well as physical layer management (PLM) functionality to the connector arrangement. A pivotable cover for the cavity is attached to the plug nose body by a living hinge. Example storage devices include an EEPROM on a printed circuit board. The storage device is electrically isolated from primary contacts of the connector arrangement.
Abstract:
An apparatus can include a circuit board; a processor mounted to the circuit board; memory accessible by the processor; a storage subsystem accessible by the processor; a network interface that includes network states; a controller mounted to the circuit board and operatively coupled to the network interface where the controller includes power states; and transition circuitry that transitions the controller from one of the power states to another one of the power states responsive to a transition of the network interface from one of the network states to another one of the network states. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A hazardous area coupler is provided which uses arrays of diodes to permit low voltage alternating current signals to pass through while shunting to ground any voltages greater than the clamping voltage of the diodes.
Abstract:
A method of repairing damaged RJ-type connectors that have a broken latch includes providing a forward-facing connector latch arm replacement device. The device includes a dual-action T-piece having a T shaped distal end with a narrow waist section linking to the proximal end and a C-spring coupled to the proximal end whereby the C-spring enables selective deflection of the T-piece whereby the narrow waist selectively engages and disengages the locking lugs provided by the RJ-type connector plug. The C-spring further includes a base configured offset from and opposite to the distal end. The device also includes a means for coupling the connector latch replacement device to the RJ-type connector.
Abstract:
A visually evident connection system for a plug-in power/data cable including a power/data cable connector securable to a power/data cable. The connector is configured to be received by a power/data receptacle having an illumination region. In response to an interconnection between the connector and the receptacle, the connector is configured to provide visual evidence of the interconnection by illumination of a component other than the illumination region of the receptacle. The source of illumination of the component is provided by the illumination region of the receptacle.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device, for inserting and connecting an electrical connector, includes a housing assembly, an electrical socket disposed in the housing assembly and having a slot, a cover plate and an elastic member. The slot is used for inserting and connecting the electrical connector. The cover plate is pivotally connected to the second casing, and is adapted to pivot relative to the housing assembly between a first position and a second position. When the cover plate is at the second position, the cover plate and the housing assembly form an opening. When the cover plate is at the first position, the cover plate covers a part of the area of the opening and shields a part of the electrical socket. The elastic member is connected to both the second casing and the cover plate, and makes the cover plate to be located in the first position.
Abstract:
An electrical jack includes a housing having an opening in a front face thereof. A cavity in the housing receives a plug inserted through the opening. A plurality of contact pins are disposed in the housing. A relief pocket is disposed rearwardly of the front face. First and second guide rails are disposed in the housing to guide a non-complementary plug into the relief pocket to substantially prevent damage to the plurality of contact pins.
Abstract:
A metallic contact for insertion into a modular telecommunications plug includes a generally planar body defining a top end, a bottom end, a front end, a rear end, and a length extending from the front end to the rear end. The bottom end is at least partially defined by a blade for piercing an insulation of a wire positioned within the plug. At least a portion of the top end is configured to electrically contact a conductor of a jack that receives the plug. The top end is defined at least in part by a first engagement surface that is separated from a second engagement surface by a notch. An uppermost portion of the first engagement surface defines a first push surface that is generally at the same height as a second push surface defined by an uppermost portion of the second engagement surface. The notch is defined by a front vertical wall spaced from a rear vertical wall, wherein the front vertical wall is positioned at a distance of at least half the length of the contact from the front end of the contact.
Abstract:
An intelligent network patch field management system is provided that includes electronic hardware, firmware, mechanical assemblies, cables, and software that provide visible and audible cues for connecting and disconnecting patch cords in an interconnect or cross-connect patching environment. Systems of the present invention also monitor patch cord connections in a network.
