摘要: The present invention aims to provide a hydrogen generating method for generating hydrogen-containing gas little contaminated with nitrogen, CO, etc., by decomposing fuel containing an organic compound at low temperature while requiring the supply of no or little electric energy from an external source, and a hydrogen generating system based on the method. The hydrogen generating method provided by the present invention comprises providing a fuel electrode (12) in contact with one surface of a partition membrane (11), supplying fuel containing an organic compound and water to the fuel electrode (12), providing an oxidizing electrode (14) in contact with the other surface of the partition membrane (11), and supplying an oxidizing agent to the oxidizing electrode (14), wherein fuel containing the organic compound is decomposed and hydrogen is generated on the fuel electrode (12). A hydrogen generating system based on the method can work under three different conditions: (a) it works under open-circuit condition where no electric energy is withdrawn to outside from a hydrogen generating cell (10) constituting the hydrogen generating system, and no electric energy is supplied from outside to the hydrogen generating cell; (b) it works under a condition where electric energy is withdrawn from the hydrogen generating cell with the fuel electrode (12) serving as a negative electrode and the oxidizing electrode (14) as a positive electrode; and (c) it works under another condition where external electric energy is provided to the hydrogen generating cell with the fuel electrode (12) serving as cathode and the oxidizing electrode (14) as anode.

摘要: This invention provides a convenient process for manufacturing 1,3-dialkyl-2-imidazolidinones in a direct one-step reaction from industrially available alkylene carbonate, N-alkylethanolamine or 1,2-diol, which can minimize forming solid materials and be readily conducted in an industrial large-scale production with a higher yield and less byproducts. The process is characterized in that alkylene carbonate, N-alkylethanolamine or 1,2-diol is reacted with monoalkylamine and carbon dioxide, alkylcarbamate alkylamine salt, and/or 1,3-dialkylurea, by heating them at 50° C. or higher in a reactor whose area in contact with at least part of the reactants and/or products is made of a metal comprising titanium or zirconium and/or an oxide thereof or inorganic glass.

摘要: A homogeneous alumina-based sintered material having excellent grindability, low porosity and high flexural strength, and which is free of color unevenness and fluctuations in density. Predetermined amounts of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 powder, MgO powder, CaCO.sub.3 powder and SiO.sub.2 powder are measured out, and then mixed with stirring in a ball mill. The mixture is granulated using a spray dryer, and then hydrostatically pressed to obtain a molded product having a predetermined shape. Subsequently, the molded product is stored and sintered at a temperature of 1,550.degree. C. to 1,650.degree. C., particularly 1,600.degree. C. to 1,650.degree. C. under atmospheric pressure for 2 hours. As a result, an alumina-based sintered material having a 50 percent cumulative grain size distribution in diameter of from 4 to 15 .mu.m, a 90 percent grain diameter of two to three times the 50 percent grain diameter, and a porosity of not more than 5% can be obtained. The alumina-based sintered material thus obtained exhibits a maximum load current during grinding of not more than 1.0 A/mm, particularly not more than 0.5 A/mm, and a four-point flexural strength of not less than 300 MPa, thus providing excellent grindability as well as high strength.

摘要: A heat insulating pad material, particularly for use in a battery shield, is made of a molded foam with a rough surface produced by in-mold expansion molding of expandable resin beads, a facing of a high-melting resin film, and an intermediate layer of a low-melting resin film. The foam and the facing are laminated together by melting the low-melting resin film in a manner that the rough surface is transparent through the facing. Upon lamination, heat may be applied onto the facing under pressure to emboss the rough surface of the molded foam, thus imparting a textured pattern. A heat insulating assembly for a battery comprises a battery case having outer surface walls and a pad of a one-piece pad member or pad members fayed and secured to the walls in a covering manner. The pad may be of the aforementioned pad material as well as molded foams produced by in-mold expansion molding or extrusion molding. The assembly may be secured by an additional fastening band, engagement of projecting members and recesses, splicing, etc.

摘要: A suspension device for an automobile with stoppers that are protrudingly provided in an intermediate portion of a torsion bar, and stopper bearings provided on the inner surface of a cover mounted on the torsion bar to be in contact with the stoppers when the torsion bar is twisted by a prescribed amount, thereby changing the spring constant when the stoppers come into contact with the stopper bearings, while a portion between an engaging portion and the stoppers is rendered smaller in thickness than the remaining portion between the engaging portion and an end provided with no stoppers, thereby providing an increased spring constant. The position of engagement between the cover and the engaging portion is rendered adjustable along the torsional direction, to harmonize comfortableness and operation stability of the automobile.
