    摘要: A charge transfer image sensor comprises a signal-readout section, overflow drain section, overflow gate electrodes, photosensing regions and transfer gate electrodes. A first barrier gate electrode is formed between each photosensing region and the overflow drain section and a second barrier gate electrode is provided between each photosensing region and the signal-readout section. During the operation of the image sensor, a prescribed amount of invariable charge is always stored in the photosensing region. One charge-integration period is divided into first and stored integration subperiods. A first variable charge stored in the photosensing region and the semiconductor regions under the first and second barrier gate electrodes during the first integration subperiod is drawn off to the overflow drain section through the semiconductor region under the overflow gate electrode. A second variable charge stored in the photosensing region and the semiconductor region under the first and second barrier gate electrode is transferred to the signal-readout section through the semiconductor region under the transfer gate electrode.

    摘要: A magnetic tape machine wherein the switch-over operations of the machine are driven by the tape driving mechanism so as to allow a single drive motor to drive the tape as well as to provide power for switch-over operations. A starting plate is pivotally attached to the tape machine and a moving plate is mounted adjacent the starting plate with a first gear rotatably mounted on the tape machine and having a pair of cutout portions displaced 180.degree. from each other and a second gear and capstan driven by the main motor with the second gear engageable with the first gear to drive it 180.degree. each time the first and second gears engage such that the various plates, gears and idlers allow the single drive motor to drive the tape as well as to provide power for switch over operations.

    摘要: An athermal ring optical modulator includes a first clad layer, a ring optical resonator, a second clad layer, an input-output optical waveguide, a first conduction type region, and a second conduction type region. The ring optical resonator has a rib optical waveguide with a convex portion formed on a semiconductor slab layer. The semiconductor slab layer is formed on the first clad layer. The second clad layer covers an upper side of the rib optical waveguide. The input-output optical waveguide couples optically with the ring optical resonator. The first and second conduction type regions are formed in the semiconductor slab layer inside and outside the ring optical resonator, respectively. In addition, the second clad layer includes a material having a negative thermo-optical coefficient. The semiconductor slab layer outside the convex portion is thinner than the semiconductor slab layer inside the convex portion.
