    摘要: The present invention is directed to a pneumatic tire having a component comprising a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising, based on 100 parts by weight of elastomer (phr),(A) from about 60 to about 90 phr of a polymer comprising (1) a terminating group provided from a terminating compound XnSi(OR)mR′4-m-n wherein X is a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or an iodine atom, R is an alkyl group with from about 1 carbon to about 7 carbons, R′ is a alkyl group with from about 1 carbon to about 20 carbons, an aryl group, a vinyl group or a halogenated alkyl group, m is an integer from about 1 to about 4, n is an integer from about 0 to about 2, and a sum of n and m is from 1 to 4; (2) repeat units comprising: (a) a repeat unit provided from a conjugated diolefin monomer, and (b) a repeat unit provided from an amine monomer; (B) from about 40 to about 10 phr of polybutadiene having a microstructure comprised of about 96 to about 99 percent cis 1,4-isomeric units, about 0.1 to about 1 percent trans 1,4-isomeric units and from about 1 to about 3 percent vinyl 1,2-isomeric units; a number average molecular weight (Mn) in a range of from about 75,000 to about 150,000 and a heterogeneity index (Mw/Mn) in a range of from about 3/1 to about 5/1; and(C) from about 50 to about 150 phr of silica.

    摘要: An uncured silica-containing rubber composition having a moisture exposed surface wherein the rubber surface contains a combination of silica and a specialized tackifying resin. The moisture exposed silica degrades necessary building tack for the rubber composition. The specialized tackifying resin counteracts and significantly reduces said reduction of building tack caused by the silica/moisture interaction. Accordingly, a method of preparation of silica-containing uncured rubber is provided by processing the rubber under high shear, internal heat generation to cause the rubber composition to reach an elevated temperature followed by treating the surface of the heated rubber composition with moisture to cool the processed rubber composition where the surface of the rubber composition contains said silica together with a specialized tackifying resin. The invention further relates to building an assembly of uncured rubber components of which at east one of such components is a silica-containing moisture exposed rubber composition which contains said specialized tackifying resin. Such assembly is sulfur cured in a suitable mold at an elevated temperature to form a tire with said component, particularly where said component is an atmospherically exposed tire sidewall. Said specialized tackifying resin is a reaction product of t-butyl phenol and formaldehyde or vinyl modified product of t-butyl phenol and formaldehyde to the exclusion of sorbitan monostearate.

Such heavy duty tire tread is intended for use with heavy loads in which internal heat is expected to be generated within the tire, including the tire tread, during use.

    摘要: This invention relates to high performance tires designed for high vehicular speeds having thin treads with a maximum thickness of about three centimeters with a running surface which is comprised of a rubber composition which is highly loaded with a combination of reinforcing filler and rubber processing oil. The combination of reinforcing filler is comprised of conductive carbon black and optionally at least one of classical rubber reinforcing carbon black and precipitated silica and their mixtures. This high level of a combination of selective reinforcing filler together with rubber processing oil in the tread rubber is provided to promote a reduction in internal heat generation within the thin tread during high vehicular speeds, particularly for vehicles intended to be used as race cars. The carbon black reinforcement is provided as being comprised of a conductive carbon black, which may optionally be combined with a classical rubber reinforcing carbon black, and which may optionally be combined with an amorphous synthetic silica, namely a precipitated silica, to aid in providing a path for thermal conductivity through the thin, high reinforcing filler and rubber processing oil loaded tire tread to its running surface and thence to the ground in order to therefore promote a reduction in internal heat build up within the tread during high speed operation of the tire.
