    Abstract: Provided is a flexible device with fewer defects caused by a crack or a flexible device having high productivity. A semiconductor device including: a display portion over a flexible substrate, including a transistor and a display element; a semiconductor layer surrounding the display portion; and an insulating layer over the transistor and the semiconductor layer. When seen in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the flexible substrate, an end portion of the substrate is substantially aligned with an end portion of the semiconductor layer, and an end portion of the insulating layer is positioned over the semiconductor layer.

    Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a novel display apparatus that is highly convenient or reliable. A plurality of pixel regions (also referred to as display regions) are combined to obtain a display apparatus for components inside a motor vehicle. Specifically, a display with a curved display surface is installed as a vehicle interior of a motor vehicle or the like. A wiring layer is provided in a support body having a curved surface, and the wiring layer and part of a signal line in a pixel region are electrically connected to each other. Moreover, by using a structure in which a plurality of adjacent pixel regions overlap with each other so as to have a small gap therebetween, a joint between the pixel regions is made less noticeable, and preferably invisible.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display apparatus having high display quality is provided. A method for manufacturing a display apparatus including first to third insulators, first and second conductors, and first and second EL layers is provided. The first conductor is formed over the first insulator, and the second insulator is formed over the first insulator and over the first conductor. A first opening portion reaching the first conductor is formed in the second insulator. A sacrificial layer is formed over the second insulator and over a bottom surface of the first opening portion, and a resist is applied over the sacrificial layer. Light exposure and development are performed on the resist, so that a second opening portion reaching the sacrificial layer is formed in a region overlapping with the first conductor. A third opening portion is formed in a region of a bottom surface of the second opening portion, and the first EL layer is formed over the resist, over the sacrificial layer, and over the first conductor. Then, the resist and the sacrificial layer are removed, whereby the first EL layer over the resist and over the sacrificial layer is removed. The second EL layer is formed over the first EL layer and over the second insulator, and the second conductor and the third insulator are formed in order over the second EL layer.
