摘要: An intermediate laminate product includes a first paper layer including lignocellulose fibres, and a dry coating layer applied to one surface of the first paper layer, the coating including expandable microspheres having an expansion temperature (TE), at least one polysaccharide, and a plasticizing additive which is capable of forming a thermoplastic blend with the polysaccharide. An expanded laminate structure includes the intermediate laminate product and a second paper layer comprising lignocellulose fibres, which is attached to the dry coating by heat lamination. A liquid packaging board includes the expanded laminate structure and a liquid barrier layer. A process for forming the expanded laminate structure includes applying a second paper layer to the coating of the intermediate product at a second temperature (T2), which is above the expansion temperature (TE) of the microspheres, whereby the microspheres expand, and at which the plasticizing additive causes plasticizing of the polysaccharide, to form a thermoplastic blend.

摘要: A method of making a multi-ply absorbent product having a wet scrubbing resistance greater than 120 revolutions and a basis weight of between 30 and 50 grams per square meter. A heated adhesive is applied between two single plies/webs, the multiple plies are embossed according to particular parameters, and the embossed webs are compressed with a marrying roll. The adhesive is heated to a temperature of between approximately 32° C. to 66° C. for application between the multiple plies. For each ply, the embossed area generally occupies between approximately 5 to 15% of the total surface area of a surface of the ply, the depth of embossment of the surface is generally between approximately 0.28 and 0.43 centimeters deep, and the embossment of the surface is generally between approximately 0.04 to 0.08 square centimeters in size.

摘要: A ply-bonding agent or adhesive composition characterized by a viscosity and a surface tension for the manufacture of paper tissue and paper towel, includes: (a) water; (b) nanofibrillated cellulose; and (c) one or more modifiers effective to modify either or both of (i) the viscosity of the composition or (ii) the surface tension of the composition, wherein the one or more additional modifiers are selected from the group consisting of components (iii), (iv), (v), (vi), (vii) or (viii), wherein: (iii) is PVOH and a viscosity modifier; (iv) is a viscosity modifier; (v) is a viscosity modifier and a surface tension modifier other than PVOH; (vi) is a water-soluble cellulose derivative; (vii) is a water soluble polyol; and (viii) is a surface tension modifier other than PVOH. The compositions are particularly useful for ply-bonding multi-ply absorbent sheet when the plies are treated with debonder.

摘要: There is described a substrate (S) for security documents, such as banknotes, comprising one or more paper layers (11, 12) and a polymer layer (20) which is made to adhere to a side of at least one of the paper layers (11, 12), which polymer layer (20) is substantially transparent in at least one region of the substrate (S) which is not covered by the paper layer or layers (11, 12) so as to form a substantially transparent window (W) in the substrate (S) which is formed and closed by the polymer layer (20). The polymer layer (20) exhibits in the region of the window (W) a thickness (T) which is greater than a thickness (t) of the polymer layer (20) outside of the region of the window (W). The thickness (T) of the polymer layer (20) in the region of the window (W) is substantially equal to the added thickness of the paper layer or layers (11, 12) and of the polymer layer (20) outside of the region of the window (W) so that the substrate (S) exhibits a substantially uniform and constant thickness (T). The substrate (S) further comprises a micro-optical structure (30), in particular a lens structure, which is disposed in the region of the window (W) on at least one side of the polymer layer (20).

摘要: A method of manufacturing an absorbent sanitary paper product having a machine direction, a cross-machine direction orthogonal and co-planar thereto, and a Z-direction orthogonal to both the machine- and cross-machine directions is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: a. providing a first network of fibers having a first and a second side, each fiber of the first network of fibers having a longitudinal axis generally disposed within the plane comprising the machine- and cross-machine-directions; b. applying a first bonding layer in a first pattern to one of the first and second sides of the first network of fibers; and, c. applying a first second network of fibers to the first bonding layer, the first second network of fibers comprising a combination of a first plurality of fibers and a second plurality of fibers. The first and second pluralities of fibers are different.
