    摘要: A VCT phaser for an engine having a housing, rotor and a spool valve. The rotor having a bore comprising an open outer end, an inner surface, and inner end having a vent port and arranged along the bore, an advance port, a common port, a retard port, and a lock port. The spool valve comprises a spool with a first land, a first groove, a second land, a second groove, and a third land, with the area between the inner surface of the bore and the first groove defining a first chamber, the area between the bore and the second groove defining a second chamber, and the area between the bore and the inner end of the spool defining a third chamber. A passage between the first groove and the second groove for fluid passage provides fluid communication between the first chamber and the second chamber and lock pin.

    摘要: A barrel engine has an elongated power shaft defining a longitudinal axis. A plurality of cylinders surround the longitudinal axis, with each having a closed end and an open end. An intake system introduces a combustible mixture of air and fuel into each of the cylinders. The power shaft has an intake lobe and an exhaust lobe extending therefrom. The intake system includes an intake valve and an exhaust valve for each of the cylinders. A valve actuation mechanism includes an intake rocker arm with one end in mechanical communication with the intake lobe, the other end in mechanical communication with the intake valve, and a mid-portion that is pivotally supported. The mechanism also includes an exhaust rocker arm with one end in mechanical communication with the exhaust lobe, the other end in mechanical communication with the exhaust valve, and a mid-portion that is pivotally supported.

    摘要: A camshaft adjuster for an internal combustion engine having hydraulic medium guides. The adjuster can include a setting unit that can be controlled by a control unit using these guides in the adjuster, wherein the setting unit is for adjusting an angle of a camshaft. This setting unit has an inner body coupled to the camshaft so as to rotate with it, and an outer body that is mounted to rotate relative to the camshaft via a drive connection which runs from a crankshaft to the camshaft. The camshaft has at least one insert part permanently inserted camshaft wherein these two components together form at least one hydraulic medium guide at least in partial regions over its axial length. This design is to create a camshaft adjuster which is in interaction with a camshaft having an insert part so that there is a simple and reliable supply of hydraulic medium to the camshaft adjuster and in particular to its control device.

    摘要: A variable camshaft timing phaser for an internal combustion engine having at least one camshaft comprising a plurality of vanes in chambers defined by a housing and a spool valve. The vanes define an advance and retard chamber. At least one of the vanes is cam torque actuated (CTA) and at least one of the other vanes is oil pressure actuated (OPA). The spool valve is coupled to the advance and retard chamber defined by the CTA vane and the advance chamber defined by the OPA vane. When the phaser is in the advance position, fluid is routed from the retard chamber defined by the OPA vane to the retard chamber defined the CTA vane. When the phaser is in the retard position fluid is routed from the retard chamber defined by the CTA vane to the advance chamber defined by the CTA vane.

After exiting the guide body of said valve assemblies, the timed charges of fuel vapor mix with intake manifold air and then are fed directly into the engine cylinders for combustion.

    摘要: A system and method for controlling a variable valve actuation system for an engine is provided. An engine valve is moved between a first position where the engine valve blocks a flow of fluid and a second position where the engine valve allows a flow of fluid. Fluid is provided to a chamber of a valve actuator adapted to operatively engage the engine valve. A parameter indicative of a viscosity of the fluid provided to the chamber of the valve actuator is sensed. Fluid is trapped within the chamber of the valve actuator to prevent the engine valve from moving to the first position. A response time of the valve actuator is determined based on the viscosity of the fluid provided to the chamber of the valve actuator. The response time indicates the time required to release the fluid from the chamber of the valve actuator to allow the engine valve to move to the first position.

    摘要: A variable camshaft phase adjustment device (phaser) for an internal combustion engine having at least one camshaft. The phaser has a housing having an outer circumference for accepting a drive force, and a rotor connected to a camshaft coaxially located within the housing. The housing and the rotor are capable of rotation to shift the relative angular position of the camshaft and the crankshaft. The spool valve comprising a spool slidably mounted within a bore in the rotor. In the spool a chamber is present that has an input communicating with the bore the spool is mounted in, an output communicating with the outside, and an air flow restriction. Hydraulic fluid from the input communicating with the bore is prevented from communicating with the outside by the air flow restriction. The air flow restriction is either in the input communicating with the bore or the output communicating with the outside.
