Abstract:
A ceramic composite is provided comprising ceramic fibers and microparticles bound together as a porous matrix with a ceramic binder. The ceramic composite is particularly useful for transporting cryogenic fluids.
Abstract:
The conduits (1-4) of length L have a linear section S.sub.1 and contain a volumetric flow rate of nitrogen Q such that, to obtain a molar concentration of impurities upon out-gassing less than C.sub.max, Q/S.sub.1 is not less than 9.5.times.10.sup.-9 L/C.sub.max. The conduits are of stainless steel with a low carbon content, not electropolished and/or chemically treated. The joints (6, 7, 9, 11) between the conduits and/or the active members (5) are maintained externally in a neutral protective atmosphere confined in a sealed casing (8, 9 . . . ) Application particularly to electronic industries.
Abstract:
A container made in the form of a continuous length of hose incorporating expanded diameter storage sections and flexible connecting sections into its length. Storage sections provided primary storage space for the compressed gases. Connecting sections are extremely flexible and enable the hose to be configured into a compact and contouring shape.
Abstract:
Heat exchange apparatus for raising the temperature of a subject fluid in which a fuel burner is located at least partially within a heat-exchange liquid and the subject fluid is passed through heat-exchange liquid, the combustion products of the fuel burner being contacted with the heat exchange fluid in the vicinity of the subject fluid. In this way the fuel burner may be constructed entirely of metal so that large units of low weight may be used. Preferably the fuel burner includes a tangential air inlet and a combustion chamber of frusto-conical form.
Abstract:
A submerged hot gas heat exchanger has a combustion gas sparge pipe with delivery ports along its upper surface, vertical fins connected to the outer peripheral surface of each heat exchanger tube, and a process liquid inlet header tank provided as a double tube structure. Baffle plates are provided in each of the tubes in a heat exchanger process liquid evaporating zone so that a heat exchanging liquid may positively rise between the tubes, heat exchange from the heat exchanging liquid to the process liquid and gas may increase, film boiling by which non uniform gasification is obtained in the tubes may be prevented and the heat exchanger may be made smaller and less expensive.
Abstract:
A transition conductor comprising a tubular envelope has one end dipped in a cryogenic fluid and the upper section connected to an external current source with cryogenic fluid raised in the tubular envelope during current application to the load emersed within the cryogenic fluid.
Abstract:
A suction accumulator is provided for the compressor of a refrigeration system. The accumulator includes a casing having an inlet and an outlet. A U-shaped conduit is provided within the casing. One leg of the conduit extends from a point adjacent the bottom of the casing to the casing outlet. The other leg extends from the casing bottom and terminates in an open end within the casing. A metering opening is provided in the bend of the Ushaped conduit to meter liquid refrigerant into the conduit. The open-ended leg is adapted to receive gaseous refrigerant which passes through the U-shaped conduit and on to the compressor of the system.
