Abstract: In a projected architecture system, a mobile device may be responsible for providing the video that is displayed on a vehicle's infotainment system's display. The resolution and/or aspect ratio of the remote display may not be supported by the mobile device. An encoder, based on the display resolution, may render one or more video frames that a decoder coupled to the infotainment system can scale to a resolution compatible with the remote display.

Abstract: A transmission method in the present disclosure includes; obtaining an image and image signal characteristics information indicating one of an opto-electrical transfer function (OETF) or an electro-optical transfer function (EOTF) as image signal characteristics of the image; and transmitting a signal including the image and the image signal characteristics information. According to the transmission method in the present disclosure, a receiving device that received a high dynamic range (HDR) image and a standard dynamic range (SDR) image transmitted through broadcasting or the like can display these images appropriately.

Abstract: An imaging and display apparatus for passive displays evaluates the illumination of an input scene and incorporates data representative of such input scene within a transfer media. The transfer media may be a storage medium storing image data, illumination data and gamma information for delivery to a passive display system. The data controls the optical characteristics of the illumination source for the passive display and the gamma and tends to minimize energy requirements, to maximize contrast or shades of gray in the displayed image, and to optimize light source operation for color fidelity. The data provided the media and/or display as a video signal, modulated video signal, s-video signal, digital signal, or other signal that can be used by a passive display system to display images.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device 10 includes a liquid crystal panel 11, a backlight 12, and a drive circuit for driving the liquid crystal panel 11 and the backlight 12. A part of the backlight 12 disposed in back of the liquid crystal panel 11 is transparent. The drive circuit drives the backlight 12 based on backlight control information included in a part of a video signal V1 corresponding to a blanking period. The backlight control information may be included in a part of the video signal V1 corresponding to a video signal period. Similar configuration may be applied to a display device which does not have a function of showing a space behind a display screen transparently. With this, a display device which easily receives lighting control information is provided.

Abstract: A handheld imaging device has a data receiver that is configured to receive reference encoded image data. The data includes reference code values, which are encoded by an external coding system. The reference code values represent reference gray levels, which are being selected using a reference grayscale display function that is based on perceptual non-linearity of human vision adapted at different light levels to spatial frequencies. The imaging device also has a data converter that is configured to access a code mapping between the reference code values and device-specific code values of the imaging device. The device-specific code values are configured to produce gray levels that are specific to the imaging device. Based on the code mapping, the data converter is configured to transcode the reference encoded image data into device-specific image data, which is encoded with the device-specific code values.

Abstract: A receiving system that can receive and process 3D images and a data processing method of the same are disclosed. The receiving system includes an image receiving unit and a display unit. The image receiving unit receives a 3-dimensions (3D) image and system information including additional information of the 3D image (i.e., additional 3D image information), generates 3D signaling information based upon the additional 3D image information included in the system information, and transmits the generated 3D signaling information along with the 3D image through a digital interface. And, the display unit receives the 3D signaling information along with the 3D image through the digital interface, formats the 3D image based upon the receiving 3D signaling information, and displays the formatted 3D image.

Abstract: This application relates to performing seamless video transitions at a display panel when a video stream changes resolution and/or scale. The video stream can be provided by a host device to a timing controller (TCON). When a parameter of the video stream is going to change, the host device can cause the TCON to enter a panel self refresh (PSR) mode. During the PSR mode, the TCON can drive the display panel using an image frame stored in a memory of the TCON. Additionally, during the PSR mode, the host device can adjust a scaler and/or resolution associated with the TCON. Once the host device has finished adjusting the TCON, the TCON can exit the PSR mode and the host device can provide a new data stream to the TCON without any apparent display artifacts being output by the display panel.
