There is disclosed circuitry for developing ramp type signals such as sawtooth waveforms, triangular waveforms, etc. The circuitry comprises an oscillator which supplies an oscillating signal to an up/down binary counter which counts occurrences of said signal. The binary output of the counter is converted into an analog signal and supplied to an output buffer stage. An offset control is associated with the output stage whereby an offset may be introduced into the output signal produced by the output stage. A strobe control is also associated with the output stage for providing selective transmission of the output signal of the stage to an output terminal in accordance with a strobe control signal applied to the output stage. The strobe control signal and the offset control signal determine the output signal waveform shape. Circuitry is also provided with the capability of greatly increasing the normal frequency of the oscillator for correspondingly reducing the time required for diagnostic testing of the circuitry.

Information, such as process variables, can be displayed in selected vertically spaced horizontal bands on a cathode ray tube by employing means for modifying the waveform of the vertical sweep voltage to the CRT. In one embodiment a generally stairstepped waveform voltage is produced, with each vertical segment corresponding to the vertical spacing between adjacent horizontal bands. This stairstepped voltage is added to the generally sawtooth waveform of the conventional vertical sweep voltage. Spike pulses, corresponding to the completion of a horizontal band, can also be added to improve the movement of the electron beam to the next horizontal band. A slide projector can be employed to provide a graphic display of the process on the CRT, corrdinated with the positions of the information displays.

A digital frequency divider produces a plurality of divisional frequency pulses from clock pulses having a multiple of a camera scanning rate for conversion by a digital-to-analogue converter into a ramp type sawtooth-shaped timing wave at a frequency related to the camera scanning rate. An up-down type of digital frequency divider produces a triangle type sawtooth-shaped timing wave having the camera scanning rate frequency. The ramp type timing wave is multiplied by itself to produce a parabola type timing wave having a camera scanning rate frequency. Any of the timing waves is combined with variable direct current to generate pulses by which to control the transfer from the video signals of one camera to the video signals of another camera to produce composite video signals representative of selected parts of two scenes.
