    摘要: At least one monomolecule film is formed on a transparent substrate surface directly or via a protective film. The monomolecule film is formed with chemical coupling of chlorosilane surface active compound, for example, of the formula: F(CF2)m(CH2)nSiRqX3−q where m is an integer of from 1 to 15, n is an integer of from 0 to 15 provided that the total of m and n is an integer of from 10 to 30 and R is an alkyl or an alkoxyl group, or F(CF2)m′(CH2)n′A(CH2)pSiRqX3−q where m represents an integer ranging from 1 to 8, n′ represents an integer ranging from 0 to 2, p represents an integer ranging from 5 to 25, q represents an integer ranging from 0 to 2, X represents a halogen atom or an alkoxyl group, R represents an alkyl or an alkoxyl group, and A represents O, a —COO— or —Si(CH3)2—. The transparent substrate such as glass is made hydrophobic and free of contamination.

    摘要: Corruption of features formed by etching a metal-containing web in a continuous etch process is reduced by distorting the original design or designs of the features to compensate for localized areas subject to excessive etching during the continuous etch process. In the case of a planar speaker diaphragm, for example, the width of the portions of the trace that are in a cross-machine direction is increased to compensate for the higher etching rate caused by the motion through the etch bath. While this causes the modified trace design to appear to be distorted relative to the original trace design, the etched trace resulting from the modified trace design has improved uniformity and greater fidelity to the original trace design than if the original trace design had been used in the continuous etch process.

    摘要: A novel porous film is disclosed comprising a network of silicon columns in a continuous void which may be fabricated using high density plasma deposition at low temperatures, i.e., less than about 250° C. This silicon film is a two-dimensional nano-sized array of rodlike columns. This void-column morphology can be controlled with deposition conditions and the porosity can be varied up to 90%. The simultaneous use of low temperature deposition and etching in the plasma approach utilized, allows for the unique opportunity of obtaining columnar structure, a continuous void, and polycrystalline column composition at the same time. Unique devices may be fabricated using this porous continuous film by plasma deposition of this film on a glass, metal foil, insulator or plastic substrates.

    摘要: A slip control article including a backing layer having a first surface with an array of at least 100 upstanding stems per square inch and a second surface. At least a portion of the upstanding stems is an elastomeric material and the stems have an aspect ratio of at least 1.25. The first surface has a static coefficient of friction when dry of at least 0.6 and a static coefficient of friction when wet within 20% of the static coefficient of friction when dry. The first surface has a peel strength and a tensile strength of substantially zero when engaged with another slip control article. The first surface has a relatively high shear strength when engaged with another slip control article. The high shear forces are due primarily to the frictional properties of the elastomeric materials, not a mechanical interlock of the stems, such as on a mechanical fastener.
