Abstract: Embodiments provide techniques, including systems and methods, for locating and navigating to the location of a requestor based on proximity between a requestor device and a provider device. For example, embodiments display proximity indicators to allow a provider to quickly, easily, and safely locate a requestor upon arrival near a request location. Further, in some embodiments, graphics associated with a proximity vector may be presented on a provider communication device to clearly display the navigation directions to the provider so that the provider may easily find their matched requestor without requiring additional communication between the provider and the requestor. Additionally, embodiments provide efficient navigation to riders by limiting display of proximity indicators for navigation until the provider is within a threshold distance to the request location to conserve system resources and communication between an on-demand matching system and the provider computing device.

Abstract: The methods, devices, and systems discussed herein describe a wireless communication device broadcasting a periodic discovery channel message that includes an identifier associated with the wireless communication device that indicates its presence to neighboring wireless communication devices. If the neighboring wireless communication devices receive the periodic discovery channel message transmission above a pre-defined received power threshold and successfully decode the periodic discovery channel message, then the transmitting wireless communication device is added to the neighboring wireless communication devices' neighboring device list. After receiving the periodic discovery channel messages from all of the neighboring wireless communication devices, a wireless communication device is able to identify all of its immediate neighboring devices and form its neighboring device list. Based on detecting periodic discovery channel message transmissions, a wireless communication device periodically updates its neighboring device list with new additions or removals of neighboring wireless communication devices.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for communicating in a wireless communications system utilizing a plurality of frequency bands for downlink (DL) transmission and a plurality of frequency bands for uplink (UL) transmission. In an embodiment, a mobile device receives a DL signal via a DL frequency band. The DL signal contains DL-UL frequency band association information which is used to determine a UL frequency band for UL transmission. The mobile device configures its radio-frequency (RF) circuitry to operate in the UL frequency band for UL transmission.

Abstract: Techniques and architecture are described for providing connectivity and monitoring the connectivity of a fabric network controller/control plane with external and extended network controllers/control planes. The techniques and architecture provide a method that includes provisioning a control plane of a first network with a control plane of a second network. The method also includes establishing a session between the control planes of the first and second networks. The method further includes registering nodes of the first network with the control plane of the second network and providing, by the control plane of the first network to the control plane of the second network, information related to endpoints within the first network. The method also includes monitoring, reporting, and possibly taking corrective actions, by the control plane of the second network, with respect to connectivity/status between the control plane of the first network and the control plane of the second network.

Abstract: A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising executable instructions, which when executed by a processor cause a first mobile device to receive a GPS location of the first mobile device. The system further receives a GPS location of one or more discoverable mobile devices. A distance is determined between the first mobile device and the one or more discoverable mobile devices based on the location information provided by a location system such as GPS or cellular triangulation. A display on the first mobile device provides the location information of the first mobile device and the one or more discoverable mobile devices. Movement of the first mobile device and the one or more discoverable devices based on location information is provided to the first mobile device. When the first mobile device is close to the one or more discoverable devices a proximity system may establish a leash. If the digital leash is maintained for a predetermined period of time, the two systems are notified.

Abstract: A signature comprised of a plurality of data blocks formatted in accordance with a multicast communications protocol is received from a target appliance. When it is determined that one or more of the plurality of data blocks has been populated with user data, a representation of at least a portion of signature is provided to an analytics engine for processing whereby the user data within the one or more of the plurality of data blocks is replaced with a predicted, original data. The predicted, original data is then usable to provision a controlling device with a command code set for use in communicating commands to the target appliance.

Abstract: Techniques for establishing communication channels between user devices experiencing network connectivity issues and remote communication systems are described herein. The techniques include the use of a secondary device to act as a proxy, or a “middle man,” to facilitate the communications with the user device. A user device may detect lack of network connectivity, and begin broadcasting advertisement messages that indicate the lack of connectivity. A secondary device may detect the advertisement message, and send a discovery message to a connectivity system indicating that it detected the advertisement message. The connectivity system can provide this information to a remote communication system, and the remote communication system can establish a connection with the secondary device and instruct the secondary device to establish a connection with the user device. The remote communication system then has a communication channel with the user device, using the secondary device, to troubleshoot the user device.
